NASHUA - Sarah Michaud walked away from Stellos Stadium Friday feeling like the Dover High School field hockey team put forth a complete effort.

In the 2-0 win over Bishop Guertin, the Green Wave coach felt everyone contributed and did their part.

That hasn't always been the case the past few seasons for Dover (6-0, No. 2 in the NHHSSports Coaches Poll), but during its hot start - in which the Green Wave have now outscored opponents 29-1 - there's been support all around the field.

"It was a real team win," Michaud said. "The biggest thing this year is that we have a lot more contributors than we have in years past. It’s really exciting to see that. It’s a team effort. We have a lot of seniors and it’s a really great group, really hard working."

Rylen Gray and Gabby Anderson each had a goal for Dover while Audrey Carter and Erin Lynch added assists. Katie Everest finished with four saves, with two of them coming on the Cardinals' best threat to score early in the fourth quarter.

With the Green Wave up two goals, Bishop Guertin's Addison Daddona put a shot right on Everest's pads. The rebound came to Sophia Bilodeau in front, but before she could get a shot off, Dover's Aaliyah Stancil tied her up.

By the time Bilodeau got free to take a shot, Everest was back in position to make the save, and Dover eventually cleared the circle.

"Any time it’s a one-goal game, it’s anybody’s game," Michaud said. "Even two goals, because things can change so quickly. I think when we have three or four, you feel more confident. Against a team like BG, it’s going to go down to the last minute. They are going to continue to grind until the last minute, so there was never a point that we felt comfortable."

Ayla Saeturn finished with 12 saves for the Cardinals (3-2), who felt they got a lot out of the result.

"This was a great game for us," Bishop Guertin coach Dakota Bilodeau said. "Dover is a really great program and we knew it was going to be tough. I’m proud of the way our girls played. We have a lot of work left to do, but there’s a lot of season to be played. We got better this game, and going forward, it’s going to help us get to where we need to be."

The game was scoreless after a quarter, but Dover was able to put consistent pressure on Bishop Guertin's defense, thanks in part to four penalty corners and an early green card for the Cardinals.

The Green Wave got on the board off a corner to open the second, as a shot by Carter hit the post and rebounded right to Gray, who put it in the goal before the Cardinals' could react, making it 1-0 with 12:20 left in the half.

Bishop Guertin almost tied it about five minutes later, when Taylor Guibord sent a ball across the circle to the open side of the goal, but Hailey LeBlanc just missed on the tip-in.

Anderson added her goal with 1:22 remaining in the third quarter, which was set up on a breakaway by Lynch. The junior sent the ball toward the goal and Anderson was able to get her stick on it to redirect it in for the 2-0 lead.

"It wasn’t our best game," Michaud said. "We just were off. For us to play off, and still … the word I used with them is grit that we came with. BG is very aggressive, they’re full of athletes, they’re fast. They’re always a really tough team, so we knew we had to bring our A-game. Our defense stepped up in a big way."
