Cat Green and Derryfield are looking for a second Division III title in a row.

Here’s a look at how the Division III girls lacrosse season might play out in 2015.

Favorite

  • Derryfield (last year: 18-0): The Cougars captured their first championship with a perfect season last year, and despite some losses to graduation, it wouldn't be a shock to see them in the same spot in June. Derryfield one of the best goalies in the state in Cat Green, while also returning all-state performers Alex Campbell-Diehl, Polly Carter and Madi Kochanek.

Contenders

  • Laconia (last year: 12-4): The Sachems lost all-state attack Danielle Cote, but return a young cast that helped get them to the semifinals a year ago. Helen Tautkus, Lyndsey Paronto, Gabrielle Smith, Meye Minor and Natalie Compton were all-state performers for Laconia last year as freshmen and sophomores.
  • Kearsarge (last year: 12-3): Another semifinalist from a year ago, the Cougars didn't face Derryfield a year ago, but will this season on May 5 in what could be one of the biggest games in the division. Kearsarge returns a strong duo at attack in juniors Anna Stowell and Eleanor Angus.

Sleepers

  • St. Thomas (last year: 8-7): The Saints were a team no one wanted to face in Division II a year ago, and they've dropped down this season.
  • Bow (last year: 5-9): For the eight years in a row, the Falcons were in the Division II championship game, but Bow hasn't been back since 2009. After missing the playoffs last year, the program will try to regroup in D-III, and could be a team that sneaks up on some people.

The rest: Belmont, Bishop Brady, Coe-Brown, ConVal, Gilford, Hopkinton, Lebanon, Oyster River, Pelham, Plymouth.

Projected Final Four

  1. Derryfield
  2. Kearsarge
  3. St. Thomas
  4. Laconia

Championship: Derryfield over Kearsarge.
