Concord beats Alvirne in pitchers' duel

Kelsey Martel gave up one hit and the Concord High School softball team defeated Alvirne 1-0 on Thursday in a Division I game.

Martel allowed a leadoff single to Mikayla Powlowsky and nothing else, as the Broncos managed to hit just one ball out of the infield the rest of the way.

The Tide scratched across a run in the fifth on a double and an error, as Concord had three hits off Alvirne's Taylor Carbone.

Carbone finished with 12 strikeouts while Martel had 11 for Concord.
