# Cardinals cruise to ninth straight girls track title

The Bishop Guertin High School girls track team won its ninth straight indoor title Sunday at the Division I championship at Dartmouth College, and this time it wasn't even close.

The Cardinals' placed in 11 of the 12 events and their 95 points were 29 better than runner-up Manchester Central (66). Pinkerton came in third with 44 and Exeter was fourth with 41\. Salem rounded out the top five with 38 points.

Merrimack finished seventh with 29 points, while Nashua North was 10th with 10 points and Alvirne came in 11th with five.

Bishop Guertin got three first-place finishes, including a division record, led by Molly McCabe. The freshman won the 1,000-meter run in 3 minutes, 2.87 seconds and was also second in the 1,500 in 5:07.08.

McCabe also teamed with Cecilia Barowski, Betsy Garnick and Sarah Burke to finish first in the 4x400 relay (4:02.6) and set a division record in the process. The team of Barowski, McCabe, Burke and Sarah Murphy also took first in the 4x800 relay (9:58.17).

Garnick placed in three other events, finishing second in the 55 hurdles (8.44), second in the long jump (16-9 1/2) and fourth in the 55 (7.54). Melissa LaCoste came in second in the high jump, clearing 5-4, while Jacklyn Dubois was second in the shot put (36-7 3/4).

Burke finished second in the 600 in 1:37.21 and Barowski was sixth in the event, finishing in 1:40.01\. Shauna Salem took third in the 3,000 (11:03.55) and teammate Hannah Moriarty came in fourth in the same event (11:11.03) while Murphy was fifth in the 1,000 (3:16.89).

Lauren Calvino was a double winner for Merrimack, finishing first in both the 3,000 (10:58.14) and the 1,500 (5:06.12). Emily Pollard was third in the 600 (1:38.25) and fifth in the 55 (7.56), and both Pollard and Calvino teamed with Lauren Perry and Taylor Blain to place sixth in the 4x400 (4:23.35).

North got a second-place finish from Tatiana Escalante in the 55 (7.51) while Jen Gagnon came in fifth in the shot put (34-3 1/2).

Alvirne's Lydia Lyman came in fifth in the 1,500 (5:12.37) and Amanda Roberts took sixth in the long jump (15-1). Roberts joined Mikayla Powlowsky, Kristine Rowe and Kendall Brigham to finish fifth in the 4x200 in 1:51.98.
