Breakdown of the 2019 Division III and Division IV football schedule

Don't look now, but the start of high school football practices for the 2019 season is just a few days away and the regular season kickoffs in less than a month.

With this year being the second of the NHIAA's two-year cycle, there weren't any changes to Divisions III and IV in terms of which teams are in each division and what the playoff format will look like.

D3 will still have 12 teams playing nine games for the 2019 regular season while D4 will have eight squads participating in a seven-game regular season, with bye weeks scheduled for Week 6 and 9.

Here’s a week-by-week look at the regular-season schedules for both D3 and D4 for 2019. Schedules are subject to change.

Week 1

Division III

• Monadnock at Inter-Lakes/Moultonborough, Sept. 7, 12 p.m.
• Laconia at Hillsboro-Deering/Hopkinton, Sept. 7, 1 p.m.: The Redhawks made a statement in their first game in D3, knocking off the Sachems 20-14 to start the 2018 season.
• Somersworth at Campbell, Sept. 7, 1:30 p.m.
• Lebanon at Newport, Sept. 7, 1:30 p.m.
• Stevens at Epping-Newmarket, Sept. 7, 2 p.m.
• Kearsarge at Trinity, Sept. 7, 7 p.m.: After dropping its varsity schedule in 2017, the Pioneers returned to action with a 41-14 win over the Cougars to open the 2018 season.

Division IV

• Raymond at Fall Mountain, Sept. 6, 7 p.m.: These two teams played one of the better games of the season to kickoff 2018, and the Rams' 20-12 win over the Wildcats went a long way to getting Raymond into the playoffs.
• Franklin at Mascoma Valley, Sept. 7, 2 p.m.
• Winnisquam at Farmington-Nute, Sept. 7, 4 p.m.
• Newfound at Bishop Brady, Sept. 7, 7 p.m.

Week 2

Division III

• Monadnock at Somersworth, Sept. 13, 7 p.m.
• Newport at Stevens, Sept. 13, 7 p.m.: The Cardinals shut out the Tigers last year, the second straight to open the season for Stevens, and one of four the Cardinals had all year.
• Laconia at Kearsarge, Sept. 13, 7 p.m.
• Trinity at Lebanon, Sept. 13, 7 p.m.
• Inter-Lakes/Moultonborough at Hillsboro-Deering/Hopkinton, Sept. 14, 1 p.m.: A year ago, the Lakers took advantage of turnovers and penalties to beat the Redhawks for ILM's only win of the season.
• Campbell at Epping-Newmarket, Sept. 14, 2 p.m.

Division IV

• Fall Mountain at Winnisquam, Sept. 14, 1 p.m.: Last season, the Wildcats were the only team other than Franklin to hold the Bears to under 30 points, as Winnisquam won 20-12 in the regular season.
• Raymond at Newfound, Sept. 14, 2 p.m.
• Farmington-Nute at Franklin, Sept. 14, 2 p.m.
• Bishop Brady at Mascoma Valley, Sept. 14, 2 p.m.

Week 3

Division III

• Lebanon at Monadnock, Sept. 20, 6:30 p.m.: The Raiders became the first team to score on the Huskies when they took an early lead, but Monadnock came back for a 35-16 win in the 2018 meeting.
• Somersworth at Laconia, Sept. 20, 7 p.m.
• Hillsboro-Deering/Hopkinton at Kearsarge, Sept. 20, 7 p.m.: Colby Quiet carried the Redhawks to a 26-13 win over the Cougars, one of five losses for Kearsarge by two scores or less in 2018.
• Newport at Campbell, Sept. 21, 1:30 p.m.
• Stevens at Inter-Lakes/Moultonborough, Sept. 21, 2:30 p.m.
• Epping-Newmarket at Trinity, Sept. 21, 7 p.m.

Division IV

• Bishop Brady at Raymond, Sept. 20, 7 p.m.
• Fall Mountain at Franklin, Sept. 21, 3:30 p.m.
• Mascoma Valley at Farmington-Nute, Sept. 21, 4 p.m.
• Winnisquam at Newfound, Sept. 21, 7 p.m.: In one of the biggest games of the regular season, Winnisquam took control of the division standings with a 34-18 win over Newfound.

Week 4

Division III

• Somersworth at Stevens, Sept. 27, 7 p.m.: The Hilltoppers fell to the Cardinals 41-0 to end an 0-4 start that saw them get outscored 148-12. Somersworth bounced back with four straight wins and ended up making the playoffs.
• Inter-Lakes/Moultonborough at Epping-Newmarket, Sept. 27, 7 p.m.
• Laconia at Campbell, Sept. 28, 1 p.m.
• Hillsboro-Deering/Hopkinton at Newport, Sept. 28, 1:30 p.m.
• Trinity at Monadnock, Sept. 28, 6:30 p.m.: The Pioneers gave the Huskies their toughest test during the regular season a year ago, as Monadnock overcame 11 penalties to win 18-13.
• Kearsarge at Lebanon, Sept. 28, 7 p.m.

Division IV

• Winnisquam at Raymond, Sept. 27, 7 p.m.
• Fall Mountain at Farmington-Nute, Sept. 28, 2 p.m.
• Newfound at Mascoma Valley, Sept. 28, 4 p.m.
• Franklin at Bishop Brady, Sept. 28, 6 p.m.: When these teams met a year ago, Franklin put up a season-high in points during a 42-7 win over the Giants.

Week 5

Division III

• Inter-Lakes/Moultonborough at Somersworth, Oct. 4, 7 p.m.
• Epping-Newmarket at Laconia, Oct. 4, 7 p.m.
• Monadnock at Newport, Oct. 5, 1:30 p.m.
• Lebanon at Hillsboro-Deering/Hopkinton, Oct. 5, 1:30 p.m.: The Redhawks needed some late-game heroics to pull out a 14-7 win over the Raiders in 2019.
• Campbell at Trinity, Oct. 5, 7 p.m.: Both teams finishes 7-2 during the regular season a year ago, with the Cougars winning 30-18 in their lone meeting. Both could again be fighting for a top seed in the division.
• Stevens at Kearsarge, Oct. 5, 7 p.m.

Division IV

• Bishop Brady at Fall Mountain, Oct. 4, 7 p.m.: The Wildcats pulled out a 16-14 win over the Giants last season, the second of three straight wins that kept their playoff hopes alive.
• Mascoma Valley at Winnisquam, Oct. 4, 7 p.m.
• Raymond at Franklin, Oct. 5, 2 p.m.
• Farmington-Nute at Newfound, Oct. 5, 2 p.m.

Week 6

Division III

• Hillsboro-Deering/Hopkinton at Monadnock, Oct. 11, 6:30 p.m.
• Newport at Somersworth, Oct. 11, 7 p.m.: Last year's meeting was the first between the two teams since the 2015 playoffs, with the Hilltoppers picking up a 52-22 win.
• Epping-Newmarket at Lebanon, Oct. 11, 7 p.m.
• Laconia at Stevens, Oct. 11, 7 p.m.
• Trinity at Inter-Lakes/Moultonborough, Oct. 12, 12 p.m.: The Pioneers bounced back from two-straight losses with a 60-30 win over the Lakers, the first team in D3 to score 60 points in 2018.
• Kearsarge at Campbell, Oct. 12, 1:30 p.m.

Division IV

• No games - bye week.

Week 7

Division III

• Monadnock at Laconia, Oct. 18, 7 p.m.
• Newport at Keasarge, Oct. 18, 7 p.m.
• Lebanon at Stevens, Oct. 18, 7 p.m.: Last year's meeting was the first between the two since Sept. 22, 2007, with the Raiders getting a 26-16 victory.
• Campbell at Inter-Lakes/Moultonborough, Oct. 19, 12 p.m.: The Cougars got a win for last year's meeting when the Lakers forfeited the game due to a lack of healthy players to participate.
• Somersworth at Epping-Newmarket, Oct. 19, 2 p.m.
• Hillsboro-Deering/Hopkinton at Trinity, 7 p.m.

Division IV

• Bishop Brady at Winnisquam, Oct. 19, 1 p.m.
• Fall Mountain at Mascoma Valley, Oct. 19, 2 p.m.
• Raymond at Farmington-Nute, Oct. 19, 2 p.m.: The Tigers snapped a 21-game losing streak a year ago with a 33-6 win over playoff-bound Raymond.
• Franklin at Newfound, Oct. 19, 2 p.m.

Week 8

Division III

• Somersworth at Kearsarge, Oct. 25, 7 p.m.: In their first meeting since Sept. 7, 2012, the Hilltoppers needed to come back twice in the second half to pull out a 28-27 win over the Cougars.
• Inter-Lakes/Moultonborough at Lebanon, Oct. 25, 7 p.m.
• Monadnock at Campbell, Oct. 26, 1:30 p.m.: The game that everyone will have circled on the schedule takes place in Litchfield this season. The Huskies beat the Cougars twice last year, including a come-from-behind win in the championship game.
• Epping-Newmarket at Hillsboro-Deering/Hopkinton, Oct. 26, 1:30 p.m.
• Laconia at Newport, Oct. 26, 1:30 p.m.
• Stevens at Trinity, Oct. 26, 7 p.m.

Division IV

• Newfound at Fall Mountain, Oct. 25, 7 p.m.
• Winnisquam at Franklin, Oct. 26, 2 p.m.: The Golden Tornadoes were shut out for the second week in a row, as the Bears wrapped up the No. 1 seed with a 20-0 win over Franklin.
• Mascoma Valley at Raymond, Oct. 26, 7 p.m.
• Farmington-Nute at Bishop Brady, Oct. 26, 7 p.m.

Week 9

Division III

• Kearsarge at Monadnock, Nov. 1, 6:30 p.m.
• Campbell at Lebanon, Nov. 1, 7 p.m.: These two programs met for the first time last year in the final week of the season, with the Raiders surprising the Cougars with a 17-16 win in Litchfield.
• Trinity at Somersworth, Nov. 1, 7 p.m.
• Inter-Lakes/Moultonborough at Laconia, Nov. 1, 7 p.m.
• Hillsboro-Deering/Hopkinton at Stevens, Nov. 1, 7 p.m.
• Newport at Epping-Newmarket, Nov. 2, 2 p.m.: The Tigers ended the season on a high note, avoiding a winless season with a 21-14 victory over the Blue Devils.

Division IV

• No games - bye week.

Playoffs

Nov. 10

• D3: Quarterfinals, at home of higher seed.
• D4: Semifinals, at home of higher seed.

Nov. 17

• D3: Semifinals, at home of higher seed.
• D4: Championship, at Laconia High School.

Nov. 24

• D3: Championship, at University of New Hampshire.
