With this year being the second of the NHIAA's two-year cycle, there weren't any changes to Divisions II in terms of which teams are in each division and what the playoff format will look like. D2 will still have 18 teams playing nine games for the 2019 regular season with the top team in each conference making the postseason along with the next six best teams, according to rating. Here’s a week-by-week look at the regular-season schedules for D2 for 2019\. Schedules are subject to change. ## Week 1 ### North Conference - John Stark at Merrimack Valley, Sept. 6, 6 p.m. - Kennett at Hanover, Sept. 6, 7 p.m. - **Plymouth at Bow, Sept. 7, 2 p.m.:** This will be the sixth meeting between the two teams in the last four years, with the Bobcats having won the previous five. Despite losing 19-7, the Falcons held Plymouth to its lowest offensive output of the year. - Gilford-Belmont at Pembroke, Sept. 7, 2:30 p.m. ### South Conference - **Hollis Brookline at Milford, Sept. 6, 7 p.m.:** This game was a great example on how the division went last year - the Cavaliers went up early and had to come back in the second half for the 28-21 win, but the Spartans ended up being the team to make the playoffs. - **Pelham at Alvirne, Sept. 6, 7 p.m.:** The Broncos run to the D2 championship game started last year with an opening-night 14-6 win over the Pythons, one of seven wins for Alvirne decided by eight points or less. - Manchester West at Sanborn, Sept. 7, 1:30 p.m. - Souhegan at St. Thomas, Sept. 7, 2 p.m. ### Crossover - **Kingswood at ConVal, Sept. 6, 7 p.m.:** Despite being in different conferences, these two teams have played every year since moving into D2\. The Cougars have won three in a row against the Knights, including last year's 14-7 win, ConVal's only one of the year. ## Week 2 ### North Conference - Bow at Kingswood, Sept. 13, 7 p.m. - Pembroke at Kennett, Sept. 13, 7 p.m. - **Merrimack Valley at Gilford-Belmont, Sept. 14, 1:30 p.m.:** A year ago, the Golden Eagles picked up a 20-7 win over the Pride to improve to 2-0, matching the program's win total from the previous two years. - Plymouth at John Stark, Sept. 14, 2 p.m. ### South Conference - Sanborn at Pelham, Sept. 13, 7 p.m. - Milford at Manchester West, Sept. 13, 7 p.m. - **ConVal at Souhegan, Sept. 13, 7 p.m.:** The Cougars and the Sabers have been division opponents for a long time, but Souhegan has never lost to ConVal. - **Alvirne at St. Thomas, Sept. 14, 2 p.m.:** The Saints will have their first shot at revenge after the Broncos knocked them off, 22-19, in the semifinals a year ago. St. Thomas won in the regular season, 26-22. ### Crossover - **Hanover at Hollis Brookline, Sept. 14, 2 p.m.:** Last year, the Marauders got a fourth-quarter touchdown to put away the Cavaliers 20-14\. Hanover ran 62 plays on offense in that game to try to keep HB's offense off the field. ## Week 3 ### North Conference - Kingswood at Hanover, Sept. 20, 7 p.m. - Kennett at Merrimack Valley, Sept. 21, 1:30 p.m. - **John Stark at Bow, Sept. 21, 2 p.m.:** Since the Falcons moved up to D2 before the 2016 season, these two teams have played four times, with each game decided by an average of 5.75 points. - Gilford-Belmont at Plymouth, Sept. 21, 2:30 p.m. ### South Conference - Pelham at Milford, Sept. 20, 7 p.m. - **Souhegan at Alvirne, Sept. 20, 7 p.m.:** Last season, the Broncos needed a second-half comeback to rally from a 14-point deficit and won the game on a flea-flicker late in the fourth quarter. - **Hollis Brookline at ConVal, Sept. 20, 7 p.m.:** The Cavaliers made it two in a row over the Cougars with a 42-0 win. HB holds a 6-5 edge over ConVal in the team's last 11 meetings. - St. Thomas at Sanborn, Sept. 21, 2 p.m. ### Crossover - **Pembroke at Manchester West, Sept. 20, 6 p.m.:** The Blue Knights blew out the Spartans 52-3 in 2018 to make it two wins in a row for West over Pembroke. The two teams have combined to go 6-63 over the last four years. ## Week 4 ### North Conference - **Plymouth at Kennett, Sept. 27, 7 p.m.:** In the team's last four regular-season meetings, the Bobcats have averaged 40 points per game against the Eagles, winning all four. - Gilford-Belmont at Bow, Sept. 27, 7 p.m. - **John Stark at Kingswood, Sept. 27, 7 p.m.:** The Generals extended their win streak over the Knights last year to five in a row, and have won the last three by a combined 115-6. - Hanover at Pembroke, Sept. 28, 2:30 p.m. ### South Conference - **Sanborn at Souhegan, Sept. 27, 7 p.m.:** Each of the last three meetings between these two teams has been decided by a touchdown, including last year's 35-28 win by the Sabers. - ConVal at Alvirne, Sept. 27, 7 p.m. - **Milford at St. Thomas, Sept. 28, 2 p.m.:** These two teams played one of the better games of the season last year, with the Saints scoring in the final minute and then ending the 41-40 win with an interception near midfield. - Manchester West at Hollis Brookline, Sept. 28, 2 p.m. ### Crossover - Merrimack Valley at Pelham, Sept. 27, 7 p.m. ## Week 5 ### North Conference - Hanover at Merrimack Valley, Oct. 4, 6 p.m. - Bow at Pembroke, Oct. 5, 2:30 p.m. - **Kennett at John Stark, Oct. 5, 2:30 p.m.:** Although these two teams have been in the same division for the last six years, this will just their second meeting since 2012\. The Generals handled the Eagles last year 30-13. - Kingswood at Gilford-Belmont, Oct. 5, 7 p.m. ### South Conference - **Souhegan at Milford, Oct. 4, 7 p.m.:** The Spartans improved to 5-2 against the Sabers in their last seven meetings with a 47-27 win in 2018\. That was the first win in a four-game streak that got Milford into the playoffs, while Souhegan won its final four games following this loss to also get in the postseason. - **Manchester West at ConVal, Oct. 4, 7 p.m.:** The Blue Knights' 55-6 win over the Cougars last year was their first against a team other than Pembroke since a 27-20 win over John Stark on Oct. 18, 2014. - Alvirne at Sanborn, Oct. 5, 1:30 p.m. - **Hollis Brookline at Pelham, Oct. 5, 6 p.m.:** The Pythons have had the Cavaliers' number the last two seasons, following up a 6-0 win over HB in 2017 with a 43-14 win last year. Since the start of the 2016 season, only two other teams (Hanover and Windham) have held HB to 14 points or less. ### Crossover - **St. Thomas at Plymouth, Oct. 5, 2 p.m.:** For the first time since 2015, these two teams didn't meet in the playoffs last year. But the Bobcats still got a 20-9 win over the Saints during the 2018 regular season. ## Week 6 ### North Conference - Bow at Merrimack Valley, Oct. 11, 6 p.m. - Gilford-Belmont at Hanover, Oct. 11, 7 p.m. - **Plymouth at Kingswood, Oct. 11, 7 p.m.:** The Bobcats have beaten the Knights in each of the last three years by a combined scored of 135-6, with the last two years being Plymouth shutouts. - Pembroke at John Stark, Oct. 12, 3 p.m. ### South Conference - **Pelham at Souhegan, Oct. 11, 7 p.m.:** These two teams played on Pinkerton's field a year ago and went back and forth throughout, with the Sabers grabbing a 43-33 win that helped them end the year on a four-game win streak. - Alvirne at Manchester West, Oct. 11, 7 p.m. - **Hollis Brookline at Sanborn, Oct. 12, 1:30 p.m.:** The Cavaliers lead the all-time series 6-3, including the last five. In the first seven meetings, the average margin of victory was 9.7; HB has won the last two by an average of 19 points. - ConVal at St. Thomas, Oct. 12, 2 p.m. ### Crossover - **Milford at Kennett, Oct. 11, 7 p.m.:** Last year was the first meeting between these two teams since 2007, with the Spartans winning 34-6 for their fifth win a row against the Eagles. ## Week 7 ### North Conference - **Kingswood at Merrimack Valley, Oct. 17, 6 p.m.:** The Knights snapped a three-game losing streak to the Pride with a 22-14 win in 2018, their only win of the season. - **Hanover at Bow, Oct. 19, 2 p.m.:** After the Falcons ended the Marauders' season in 2016 and 2017 in the semifinals, Bow handed Hanover its first loss a year ago, 22-8. - Kennett at Gilford-Belmont, Oct. 19, 2 p.m. - Plymouth at Pembroke, Oct. 19, 2:30 p.m. ### South Conference - Sanborn at Milford, Oct. 18, 7 p.m. - St. Thomas at Manchester West, Oct. 18, 7 p.m. - **Pelham at ConVal, Oct. 18, 7 p.m.:** The Cougars lead the all-time series between these teams, 4-3, but the Pythons have won the last two by a combined score of 64-0. - Souhegan at Hollis Brookline, Oct. 19, 2:30 p.m. ### Crossover - **John Stark at Alvirne, Oct. 18, 7 p.m.:** The Broncos won 12-6 in a double overtime in a game that saw both teams score on their opening drives and then settle into a defensive battle for the remainder of regulation. ## Week 8 ### North Conference - Bow at Kennett, Oct. 25, 7 p.m. - **John Stark at Hanover, Oct. 25, 7 p.m.:** Since the division switched to two conferences in 2016, these teams have made the playoffs every year. - **Pembroke at Kingswood, Oct. 25, 7 p.m.:** The Spartans picked up their only win of the season in 2018 in a 22-21 win over the Knights. - Merrimack Valley at Plymouth, Oct. 26, 2 p.m. ### South Conference - St. Thomas at Pelham, Oct. 25, 6 p.m. - **Milford at ConVal, Oct. 25, 7 p.m.:** The Spartans have won seven of the last eight meetings with the Cougars, including last year's 39-6 win. - Manchester West at Souhegan, Oct. 25, 7 p.m. - **Alvirne at Hollis Brookline, Oct. 26, 2 p.m.:** These teams have only ever played twice, with HB winning both games, including last year's 33-27 win. That kept the Cavaliers' playoff hopes alive and snapped the Broncos' five-game winning streak. ### Crossover - Sanborn at Gilford-Belmont, Oct. 26, 1:30 p.m. ## Week 9 ### North Conference - **Kennett at Kingswood, Nov. 1, 7 p.m.:** This rivalry has been one-sided for the last dozen years, as Kennett won 46-27 to extend its win streak over Kingswood to 12 games. - Hanover at Plymouth, Nov. 2, 2 p.m. - Gilford-Belmont at John Stark, Nov. 2, 2 p.m. - Merrimack Valley at Pembroke, Nov. 2, 2:30 p.m. ### South Conference - **Alvirne at Milford, Nov. 1, 7 p.m.:** The Broncos came back from a 35-14 deficit to won, 36-35, on a two-point conversion with 12 seconds left to hand the Spartans the loss. The win set up a quarterfinal matchup the following week between the two, which Alvirne won 32-19. - Pelham at Manchester West, Nov. 1, 7 p.m. - ConVal at Sanborn, Nov. 2, 1:30 p.m. - **Hollis Brookline at St. Thomas, Nov. 2, 2 p.m.:** The Saints came back from a halftime deficit to beat the Cavaliers 43-36 and eliminate HB from the playoffs. It was the sixth game that St. Thomas scored 32 points or more, while HB's defense allowed an average of 33.8 points per game over its final five. ### Crossover - **Souhegan at Bow, Nov. 2, 2 p.m.:** The Sabers beat the Falcons 39-21 in Amherst to end the regular season, snapping Bow's seven-game win streak. The teams then met in the quarterfinals the following week, with Souhegan winning 34-13 at Bow. ## Playoffs ### Quarterfinals - Nov. 9, at home of higher seed. ### Semifinals - Nov. 16, at home of higher seed. ### Championship - Nov. 24, 2:30 p.m. at the University of New Hampshire.
