There were a couple of changes to Division II for the upcoming season, most notably that there are fewer teams in the division. With Windham moving up, Alvirne has come down to take the Jaguars' place, while three other teams - Laconia, Lebanon, Hillsboro-Deering/Hopkinton - moved down to Division III. The division is still divided into North and South conferences, with each team playing everyone in its conference once, plus one crossover game. Here’s a week-by-week look at some of the key games coming up in Division I this season. Schedules are subject to change. ## Week 1 ### North Conference - Hanover at Kennett, Aug. 31, 7 p.m. - Pembroke at Gilford-Belmont, Sept. 1, 1:30 p.m. - **Bow at Plymouth, Sept. 1, 2 p.m.:** No point in waiting, the Falcons and the Bobcats get the rematch of the last two division championship games out of the way in Week 1\. It'll be the teams' fifth meeting the last three seasons, with Plymouth having won the first four. - Merrimack Valley at John Stark, Sept. 1, 2 p.m. ### South Conference - **Alvirne at Pelham, Aug. 31, 7 p.m.:** The Broncos move down to D2 this season after going 9-38 over the last five seasons in Division I. Alvirne opens against a Pelham team that was as hot as any in the state at the end of last season, winning its final four games - all shutouts - and just missing the playoffs. - Sanborn at Manchester West, Aug. 31, 7 p.m. - **St. Thomas at Souhegan, Aug. 31, 7:30 p.m.:** Another early-season matchup of two playoff teams from a year ago. The Saints won last year's meeting thanks to a late touchdown and a defensive stand in the final moments. - **Milford at Hollis Brookline, Sept. 1, 2 p.m.:** Despite being less than 11 miles apart, this will be the first meeting between the teams since 2015\. The Spartans hold a 6-2 edge all-time, but the teams split the last two meetings. ### Crossover - ConVal at Kingswood, Aug. 31, 7 p.m. ## Week 2 ### North Conference - Kingswood at Bow, Sept. 7, 7 p.m. - **John Stark at Plymouth, Sept. 8, 2 p.m.:** The Bobcats play the second of two home games against playoff teams from a year ago, hosting the Generals, who will be led by a quarterback with a last name other than McQuarrie for the first time since 2012. - Gilford-Belmont at Merrimack Valley, Sept. 8, 2 p.m. - **Kennett at Pembroke, Sept. 8, 2:30 p.m.:** The Eagles have won five of the last seven meetings with the Spartans, going back to 2004, including the last two by a combined 86-14. ### South Conference - **Souhegan at ConVal, Sept. 7, 7 p.m.:** This will be the first meeting between the two teams since 2015\. Souhegan has never lost to ConVal. - St. Thomas at Alvirne, Sept. 7, 7 p.m. - Manchester West at Milford, Sept. 7, 7 p.m. - **Pelham at Sanborn, Sept. 8, 1:30 p.m.:** The Indians were the last team to score on the Pythons last season, getting a 17-6 win on Sept. 30\. Sanborn has won five straight against Pelham, but the average margin of victory has been 9.2 points. ### Crossover - **Hollis Brookline at Hanover, Sept. 7, 7 p.m.:** A rematch of one of last season's quarterfinal games, won by Hanover. Both teams could once again be headed for the playoffs. ## Week 3 ### North Conference - Hanover at Kingswood, Sept. 14, 7 p.m. - Merrimack Valley at Kennett, Sept. 14, 7 p.m. - Plymouth at Gilford-Belmont, Sept. 15, 1:30 p.m. - **Bow at John Stark, Sept. 15, 2 p.m.:** Two years ago, Bow was the only team to beat John Stark, knocking the Generals out of their first trip to the playoffs. Last season, John Stark handed Bow a late loss that looked like it might knock the Falcons out of the playoffs. ### South Conference - **Alvirne at Souhegan, Sept. 14, 7:30 p.m.:** The Sabers won the only meeting between these two programs, 37-20, on Sept. 14, 2012. - Sanborn at St. Thomas, Sept. 15, 2 p.m. - **ConVal at Hollis Brookline, Sept. 15, 2 p.m.:** This has turned into one of the division's best rivalries, with the teams splitting 10 meetings over the last decade. HB won last year's game, 21-13, to snap a three-game losing streak to ConVal. - Milford at Pelham, Sept. 15, 7 p.m. ### Crossover - **Manchester West at Pembroke, Sept. 15, 2 p.m.:** Heading into 2018, Pembroke was 2-23 in the last three seasons, with the two wins coming against West in 2015 and 2016\. The Blue Knights were 1-25 in the same stretch, with the lone win last year against the Spartans. ## Week 4 ### North Conference - Pembroke at Hanover, Sept. 21, 7 p.m. - **Kennett at Plymouth, Sept. 22, 2 p.m.:** The Bobcats have won six of the last seven meetings with the Eagles, including last year's 42-14 win. - Bow at Gilford-Belmont, Sept. 22, 2:30 p.m. - **Kingswood at John Stark, Sept. 22, 4 p.m.:** The Generals have won four straight against the Knights, including wins in the last two seasons by a combined 71-6. ### South Conference - **St. Thomas at Milford, Sept. 21, 7 p.m.:** This will be the fourth straight year these two meet, and third time in the regular season. St. Thomas has won the first three by an average score of 47-23. - Alvirne at ConVal, Sept. 21, 7 p.m. - Hollis Brookline at Manchester West, Sept. 21, 7 p.m. - Souhegan at Sanborn, Sept. 22, 2:30 p.m. ### Crossover - **Pelham at Merrimack Valley, Sept. 21, 6 p.m.:** This will be the first meeting between the two programs. ## Week 5 ### North Conference - Gilford-Belmont at Kingswood, Sept. 28, 7 p.m. - **John Stark at Kennett, Sept. 28, 7 p.m.:** Despite being in the same division - and same conference the last two years - this will be the first meeting between the Generals and the Eagles since 2012. - Merrimack Valley at Hanover, Sept. 28, 7 p.m. - Pembroke at Bow, Sept. 29, 2 p.m. ### South Conference - **Milford at Souhegan, Sept. 28, 7 p.m.:** After the Sabers dominated this rivalry for many years, the Spartans have won four of the last six meetings, including one win in the playoffs. Souhegan did win last year's game on the way to a playoff berth. - Sanborn at Alvirne, Sept. 28, 7 p.m. - ConVal at Manchester West, Sept. 28, 7 p.m. - **Pelham at Hollis Brookline, Sept. 29, 2 p.m.:** Last year, the Pythons won on special teams and defense in a 6-0 win. It was the first time the Cavaliers had been shutout in 34 games. ### Crossover - **Plymouth at St. Thomas, Sept. 29, 2 p.m.:** The Bobcats have ended the Saints season in the playoffs in each of the last two years, with Plymouth winning in the quarterfinals in 2016 and the semifinals in 2017. ## Week 6 ### North Conference - **Merrimack Valley at Bow, Oct. 6, 2 p.m.:** Bow has won the two meetings in the last two years, averaging 44.5 points in the wins. - Kingswood at Plymouth, Oct. 6, 2 p.m. - **John Stark at Pembroke, Oct. 6, 2:30 p.m.:** The Generals have won five in a row against the Spartans, including a 54-12 win in 2017. - Hanover at Gilford-Belmont, Oct. 6, 4 p.m. ### South Conference - Souhegan at Pelham, Oct. 5, 7 p.m. - St. Thomas at ConVal, Oct. 5, 7 p.m. - **Manchester West at Alvirne, Oct. 5, 7 p.m.:** The last time these teams played was the regular-season finale of the 2011 season, a game won by West 37-36. - Sanborn at Hollis Brookline, Oct. 6, 2 p.m. ### Crossover - **Kennett at Milford, Oct. 5, 7 p.m.:** The Spartans have won four in a row against the Eagles, although this will be the first meeting between the teams since 2007. ## Week 7 ### North Conference - **Bow at Hanover, Oct. 12, 7 p.m.:** The Falcons and the Marauders haven't met in the regular season, but Bow has ended Hanover's season each of the last two years in the semifinals. - **Merrimack Valley at Kingswood, Oct. 12, 7 p.m.:** The Pride have won the last two meetings in each of the last two years after these teams hadn't played each other since 2011. - Gilford-Belmont at Kennett, Oct. 12, 7 p.m. - Pembroke at Plymouth, Oct. 13, 2 p.m. ### South Conference - **Hollis Brookline at Souhegan, Oct. 12, 7 p.m.:** The Cavaliers and the Sabers played one of the more entertaining games of the season last year, as HB scored with 15 seconds left to beat Souhegan and clinch a playoff spot. - **Milford at Sanborn, Oct. 13, 1:30 p.m.:** The Spartans have won two of three meetings with the Indians, but it was Sanborn who held on for a 14-13 win over Milford last season. - Manchester West at St. Thomas, Oct. 13, 2 p.m. - ConVal at Pelham, Oct. 13, 6 p.m. ### Crossover - Alvirne at John Stark, Oct. 13, 2 p.m. ## Week 8 ### North Conference - Plymouth at Merrimack Valley, Oct. 19, 6 p.m. - **Kennett at Bow, Oct. 20, 2 p.m.:** The Falcons have beaten the Eagles in each of the last two seasons by an average of 14.5 points. - **Hanover at John Stark, Oct. 20, 2 p.m.:** Both teams have made the playoffs in the last two years, and they've split two regular-season games, with the Generals winning 47-19 in 2016 and the Marauders returning the favor 22-12 last season. - Kingswood at Pembroke, Oct. 20, 2:30 p.m. ### South Conference - Souhegan at Manchester West, Oct. 19, 7 p.m. - **Hollis Brookline at Alvirne, Oct. 19, 7 p.m.:** The Cavaliers won the only meeting between these two programs, 23-14, back in 2012. - **Milford at ConVal, Oct. 19, 7 p.m.:** The Cougars snapped a six-game losing streak to the Spartans with last year's 17-14 victory. - Pelham at St. Thomas, Oct. 20, 2 p.m. ### Crossover - Gilford-Belmont at Sanborn, Oct. 20, 1:30 p.m. ## Week 9 ### North Conference - Pembroke at Merrimack Valley, Oct. 26, 6 p.m. - **Plymouth at Hanover, Oct. 26, 7 p.m.:** Over the last two years, these two have combined to go 39-5, but haven't played each other. - **Kingswood at Kennett, Oct. 26, 7 p.m.:** Last year's 41-8 victory extended Kennett's winning streak against Kingswood to 11 games. - John Stark at Gilford-Belmont, Oct. 27, 1:30 p.m. ### South Conference - Milford at Alvirne, Oct. 27, 7 p.m. - Sanborn at ConVal, Oct. 27, 7 p.m. - Manchester West at Pelham, Oct. 27, 7 p.m. - **St. Thomas at Hollis Brookline, Oct. 27, 2 p.m.:** This will be the first meeting between the two programs since 2007, when both teams were in the old Division V. ### Crossover - **Bow at Souhegan, Oct. 26, 7 p.m.:** Potentially a game that could have big playoff implications not only for both teams, but for the rest of the division. ## Quarterfinals - Saturday, Nov. 3, at the home of the higher seed ## Semifinals - Saturday, Nov. 10, at the home of the higher seed ## Championship - Saturday, Nov. 17, at the University of New Hampshire
