Bracketology: Division II girls basketball

There are just two weeks left in the regular season for Division II girls basketball, and with some teams still having as many as six games remaining, there's a lot left to be determined before the postseason begins.

Feb. 27 is as of now the last day of the regular season, while the preliminary round is scheduled to begin on March 4. The top 16 teams in the division make the postseason, and here's a look at where everyone stands right now.

Top four seeds

Coe-Brown (14-0)
Bishop Brady (15-1)
Milford (12-1)
Goffstown/Oyster River (12-3)

After beating Milford and Merrimack Valley on the road on back-to-back nights, Coe-Brown looks like a lock to get the No. 1 seed in the division. The Bears still have to play at Portsmouth and are home to Lebanon, both of which should be tough games. Bishop Brady's last two games are against Portsmouth and Goffstown, and a loss could allow Milford, which plays ConVal, Hanover and at St. Thomas this week, to move up. With no head-to-head meeting, the fourth seed could come down to a tiebreaker for Goffstown and Oyster River.

Merrimack Valley (10-5)

Oyster River's remaining three opponents are a combined 23-18 while Goffstown's final three are 25-16. Since losing its first two games of the season, Lebanon has won 11 of its last 12. Portsmouth hasn't been the same team since the injury bug struck, having lost three of five. Merrimack Valley, the defending champions, is 1-5 against team's with a winning record this season.

Teams no one wants in the first round

Pembroke (9-5)
Hanover (6-7)

Pembroke is the ninth seed as of right now, but the Spartans are eight points away from being the fourth seed and have wins over Goffstown, Merrimack Valley and Oyster River. Likewise, Hanover has four loses by a combined 17 points, including one-point defeats at the hands of Pembroke and Lebanon.
