# Bracketology: Division II boys basketball

With three weeks left in the season, four teams have separated themselves from the rest of the pack in Division II. Whether they can all hold on to those spots will be determined.

The regular season comes to a close on March 6 and the first round of the tournament starts on March 9\. The top 16 teams in the division make the postseason, and here's a look at where everyone stands right now.

### Top four seeds

- Portsmouth (10-0)
- Manchester West (12-1)
- Bishop Brady (12-2)
- Lebanon (10-2)

Portsmouth remarkably has eight games left that it will need to play in the next 19 days, including one at Bishop Brady on Feb. 24\. The Clippers haven't had a tough schedule, with just three games against the other top eight teams, but their average margin of victory has been 26.2 points. Since losing to Portsmouth to open the season, West has cruised through the season, with just two games decided by fewer than 10 points. Bishop Brady has arguably the top player in the division in Jourdain Bell but the Giants have a tough stretch to end the season, with Portsmouth, Goffstown and Lebanon up next before finishing with Plymouth. Lebanon had won nine in a row before a loss to Bishop Brady on Sunday, and the Raiders' final six opponents have a combined record of 47-26.

### Next four

- Merrimack Valley (9-4)
- Coe-Brown (8-4)
- Windham (8-5)
- Hanover (7-5)

Merrimack Valley has just two wins this season against teams with a winning record (Hanover, Bishop Brady), and has lost to Coe-Brown twice. Before beating Merrimack Valley last Friday, the Bears had lost three of four, however against teams that are a combined 24-10\. Windham might have played the toughest schedule of anyone in the division, with two games against Pelham (Division III) to go with two each against Portsmouth, Milford and Hollis Brookline, plus Bishop Brady. Hanover dropped its first three of the season to Lebanon and Bishop Brady, but has won seven of its last nine.

### Teams no one wants in first round

- Milford (7-5)
- Kennett (7-6)
- Goffstown (6-6)
- Hollis Brookline (5-5)
- Souhegan (4-7)

Each of these teams has the talent to knock off a higher seed in the tournament, it's just a matter of putting it all together for 32 minutes when it matters most.

- ConVal (3-9)
- St. Thomas (3-9)

### Outside looking in

- Timberlane (1-10)
