The regular season came to a close Thursday night for Division II boys basketball and the postseason gets underway on Monday. Here's how the bracket should look when the NHIAA releases the tournament pairings before Monday's games. *Note: These pairings are not official. They are what we expect them to be based on our interpretations of the tiebreakers.* ### Top two seeds Portsmouth (17-1) and Manchester West (17-1) finished the regular season tied for the top spot, and to break the tie, one must go all the way back to the opening night of the year. The Clippers handed the Blue Knights a 16-point defeat in the first game of the year. All West did after that was win 17 games in a row, all but two of them by double digits. Portsmouth lone loss came on Feb. 27 at Windham, and its only other game in single digits was a two-point win over Bishop Brady. ### Three-way tie A week ago, Bishop Brady (14-4) and Lebanon (14-4) looked like the clear favorites to take the third and fourth seeds. But Merrimack Valley (14-4) won its final five games, and that combined with Brady's losses to Portsmouth and Lebanon, opened the door for the Pride to move up. And then Lebanon ended the regular season with an overtime loss to Milford, leaving them in a three-way tie. Since Lebanon and Merrimack Valley didn't play in the regular season, the next tiebreaker is rating against tournament teams. Bishop Brady (10-4, 2.857) was the best of the three, then Lebanon (9-4, 2.764) and then Merrimack Valley (6-4, 2.4). After finishing the season with seven straight wins, Windham (13-5) is the sixth seed while Coe-Brown (12-6), winners of five of its last seven, is the seventh seed. ### More tiebreakers Seven of the final nine teams finished in a tie with at least one other team, but all ties can be broken by head-to-head tiebreaker or the rating against tournament teams. Hanover (11-7) and Milford (11-7) finished tied, but the Marauders regular-season win means they'll get the eighth seed and host Milford, which will be the ninth seed. Goffstown (9-9) and Kennett (9-9) tied for the 10th spot, and the teams didn't play during the season, but the Grizzlies (6-8, 1.714) had a better rating against tournament teams than Kennett (3-8, 1.091). Goffstown ends up with the 10th seed while Kennett gets the 11th seed. Hollis Brookline (7-11), which went 2-8 in its final 10 games, is alone for the 12th seed. Then there is another three-way tie for 13th between Oyster River (6-12), Souhegan (6-12) and St. Thomas (6-12). Souhegan didn't play either team during the regular season, but the next tiebreaker can be used. Oyster River (4-10, 1.143) has the best rating against tournament of the three, meaning the Bobcats should be the 13th seed. Souhegan (3-12, 0.8) is next and should be 14th while St. Thomas (2-12, 0.571) should be 15th. Thanks to its win over Milford earlier in the week, ConVal (5-13) finished alone in 16th and will be the final team in the tournament. ### Tournament field 1.
