Bracketology: Division I girls basketball

The regular season is winding down for Division I girls basketball, with some teams having just three games left on the schedule.

The games end on Feb. 27 and the first round is scheduled to begin on March 3. The top 16 teams in the division make the postseason, and here's a look at where everyone stands right now.

Top four seeds

• Bedford (13-2)
• Londonderry (12-2)
• Bishop Guertin (12-2)
• Manchester Central (10-4)

Things got a little more interesting at the top last Friday, when Bedford fell to Pinkerton and Londonderry went down to Manchester Central. Both teams stayed at the top however, with Londonderry holding the head-to-head tiebreaker over Bishop Guertin. The Bulldogs and Cardinals will meet to end the regular season, part of a tough final four games for Bishop Guertin. Central, which holds the tiebreaker over Pinkerton, has won eight of nine, and only plays one team with a winning record the rest of the way.

Next four teams

• Pinkerton (10-4)
• Manchester Memorial (8-4)
• Alvirne (8-5)
• Nashua North (8-5)

After a mini-slump in the middle of the season, Pinkerton has turned things around, including its wins over Memorial and Bedford. Memorial has the most games remaining (six) in the division, and the Crusaders have lost three of four. Alvirne has alternated wins over its last six games, but holds the tiebreaker over North. The Titans have won five of their last six after a 3-4 start.

Teams no one wants in the first round

• Dover (8-7)
• Salem (6-8)
• Trinity (5-9)

All four teams have played some of the top teams close this season, and any of them is capable of pulling off a first-round upset.

• Spaulding (2-11)
