# Bracketology: Division I boys basketball

Pinkerton is close to locking up a top four seed.

The line between the top teams in Division I, and everyone else, continued to get clearer last week. While no team has anything locked up just yet, it's going to be tough for anyone outside of the top four to move up in the final two weeks.

The regular season is scheduled to end on March 6, with the first round of the tournament to begin on March 11\. The top 16 teams in the division make the postseason, and here’s a look at where everyone stands right now.

### Top four seeds

- Londonderry (14-0)
- Manchester Central (13-1)
- Spaulding (10-2)
- Pinkerton (12-3)

Londonderry and Central both picked up three wins in the last week to stay ahead of the rest of the division. The Lancers have the tougher schedule the rest of the way, including a final week that has Alvirne and Spaulding on the schedule. The Raiders still have six games remaining, including what could be tough matchups with Bishop Guertin, Trinity and Manchester Memorial. Pinkerton is nine points away from having a shot at the No. 1 seed, but losses to both Londonderry and Central mean the best the Astros likely will be able to do is move up to third.

### Next four seeds

- Alvirne (9-5)
- Nashua South (9-6)
- Pembroke (8-6)
- Manchester Memorial (7-6)

Alvirne has been struggling the last two weeks, losing three of its last four to teams below the Broncos in the standings, and they finish the season with games at Londonderry and home against Central. South had its six-game winning streak snapped by Central last Friday, but the Panthers hold the tiebreakers over Alvirne and Pembroke. The Spartans finish the season hosting Alvirne and Central, and will play just 16 regular season games. Memorial will head to Nashua on March 3 for a game that could have big implications on seeding. The Crusaders rise could hit a road block with games against Londonderry, Merrimack and Spaulding before the contest with South.

### Teams no one wants in the first round

- Merrimack (7-7)
- Bedford (7-7)
- Bishop Guertin (7-8)

All three have been struggling as of late, but each one has proven it can play with the top teams in the division. Merrimack nearly knocked off Londonderry and had a lead on Central at halftime. Bedford has four loses by a combined six points. Bishop Guertin has been able to hang around against better competition.

- Exeter (5-9)
- Keene (5-9)
- Salem (5-9)
- Winnacunnet (4-10)

### Outside looking in

- Nashua North (4-11)
- Dover (2-13)
- Concord (0-14)
