# Bracketology: Division I boys basketball (Jan. 13)

It’s a little more than eight weeks until the start of the boys basketball postseason in New Hampshire, so here is a look at where each team stands and who is in and who is out in Division I.

*Note: With the NHIAA’s new 70-percent rule in place for the postseason, Division I girls basketball will have 13 playoff teams. Standings based off results reported to NHIAA.org and other media outlets.*

### Division I

**Playoff field**

1. Portsmouth (6-0, 4.0000). Games this week: vs. Spaulding (Jan. 13).
2. Spaulding (5-1, 3.3333). Games this week: at Portsmouth (Jan. 13).
3. Bedford (4-1, 3.2000). Games this week: at Winnacunnet (Jan. 13).
4. Merrimack (4-1, 3.2000). Games this week: vs. Concord (Jan. 13); at Nashua North (Jan. 18).
5. Exeter (4-1, 3.2000). Games this week: vs. Londonderry (Jan. 13).
6. Alvirne (3-1, 3.0000). Games this week: vs. Pinkerton (Jan. 13); vs. Manchester Central (Jan. 17).
7. Winnacunnet (4-2, 2.6667). Games this week: vs. Bedford (Jan. 13).
8. Londonderry (3-2, 2.4000). Games this week: at Exeter (Jan. 13).
9. Manchester Memorial (2-2, 2.0000). Games this week: at Dover (Jan. 13).

**Tiebreakers**

- Bedford win the three-way tiebreaker with Merrimack and Exeter for a better rating against tournament teams. Merrimack wins the tiebreaker over Exeter based on the quality of wins against tournament teams tiebreaker.
- Manchester Memorial wins a three-way tiebreaker with Nashua South and Salem for the ninth seed. The tie between South and Salem is currently unbreakable, as they remain tied after the first eight tiebreakers. The ninth tiebreaker is "as determined by committee." For now, they're listed in alphabetical order.

**First-round byes:** The top three seeds get a bye into the quarterfinals.
