# Bracketology: Division I boys basketball (Feb. 3)

It’s a little more than four weeks until the start of the boys basketball postseason in New Hampshire, so here is a look at where each team stands and who is in and who is out in Division I.

*Note: With the NHIAA’s new 70-percent rule in place for the postseason, Division I boys basketball will have 13 playoff teams. Standings based off results reported to NHIAA.org and other media outlets.*

### Division I

**Playoff field**

1. Portsmouth (10-0, 4.0000)
2. Bedford (8-2, 3.2000)
3. Spaulding (8-2, 3.2000)
4. Merrimack (7-2, 3.1111)
5. Winnacunnet (8-3, 2.9091)
6. Exeter (7-3, 2.8000)
7. Manchester Memorial (2.5000)
8. Nashua South (6-4, 2.4000)
9. Alvirne (6-4, 2.4000)
10. Salem (4-4, 2.0000)
11. Londonderry (4-4, 2.0000)

**Outside:** Bishop Guertin (3-6, 1.3333); Keene (2-7, 0.8889); Dover (2-7, 0.8889); Concord (1-8, 0.4444); Manchester Central (1-8, 0.4444); Trinity (0-10, 0.0000).

**Tiebreakers**

- Bedford and Spaulding are tied through the first seven tiebreakers, but Bedford wins the eighth tiebreaker, which is win over highest seeded team (Merrimack).
- Nashua South wins the tiebreaker with Alvirne thanks to a better rating against tournament teams.
- Salem wins the tiebreaker with Londonderry thanks to a better rating against tournament teams.
- Pinkerton wins the tiebreaker with Bishop Guertin for the final spot thanks to a better quality of wins against tournament teams.

**Rising:** After losing three games in a row, Winnacunnet has won four games in a row for the second time this year, moving up to fifth in the standings.

**Falling:** Alvirne started the year by winning five of six games, but the Broncos have dropped three of four since.

**First-round byes**

- No. 1 Portsmouth
- No. 2 Bedford
- No. 3 Spaulding

**First-round matchups**

- No. 9 Alvirne at No. 8 Nashua South
- No. 12 Nashua North at No. 5 Winnacunnet
