Bishop Guertin girls get big win over Derryfield

The Bishop Guertin High School girls tennis team won five of six singles match to pull out a 7-2 win over Derryfield on Monday in a Division I match.

Jennifer Dai won the No. 1 singles match for the Cardinals (2-0), beating Aslinn Smith 8-0, while teammate Katie Wong defeated Derryfield's Taylor Shomo to win the No. 2 match 8-3.

Bishop Guertin's Lauren Hayward took the No. 3 match over Brittany Potter, 8-4, and Liz DiCesare of Bishop Guertin won the No. 4 match 9-8 (2) over Colby Vaillancourt. Julia Filler gave the Cardinals their fifth singles win, taking the No. 5 match over Berklee Vaillancourt 8-6, while Derryfield's Rachel Moss won the No. 6 match  8-4 over Allison Murphy.

Dai and Hayward got a win at No. 1 doubles, beating Smith and Colby Vaillancourt, 8-3, and Wong and DiCesare defeated Shomo and Berklee Vaillancourt 9-7 in the No. 2 match. Potter and Moss took the No. 3 match, 8-3, over Filler and Murphy.
