Bishop Guertin field hockey gets win over Nashua North

The Bishop Gueritn High School field hockey team started fast and held off Nashua North for a 5-3 win on Wednesday in Division I action.

Katie Lupo and Mckenna Gosselin each had two goals for the Cardinals (5-1-1) while Grace Goyette also scored and goalie Greta Reilly made seven saves.

Danielle Upton, Gabby Masseur and Lexi Bernier each had a goal for the Titans (4-3), while goalie Zoe Fillebrown made six saves.

Gosselin started the scoring a little more than five minutes into the game, scoring off an assist from Kate Bradford, and Goyette would make it 2-0, with Lupo getting an assist on the goal.

Upton cut the lead in half for North with 10 minutes left before the break, but Lupo scored to make it 3-1 just 20 seconds later. Lupo scored her second goal, with Bradford assisting, before halftime to make it 4-1.

The Titans came back in the second half, making it 4-3 on goals by Masseur and Bernier, but Gosselin scored her second goal, with Bonnie Gillis getting the assist, to put the game away.

Britney Pearson, Alyson Pollard, Caroline Carey and Kayla Bednarz played well defensively for the Cardinals.
