BEDFORD - The Bishop Guertin High School boys lacrosse team scored eight unanswered goals in the second half Thursday to beat Bedford 14-5 and end the Bulldogs' 72-game winning streak.
BEDFORD - The Bishop Guertin High School boys lacrosse team scored eight unanswered goals in the second half Thursday to beat Bedford 14-5 and end the Bulldogs' 72-game winning streak.
Charlie O'Brien scored four goals and Mike Carluccio had three goals as the Cardinals (12-1) gave Bedford its first loss since 2011, when the Bulldogs (11-1) lost in the Division II semifinals.
Tim Hinrichs (assist) and Nick Prunier also had two scores each for Bishop Guertin while Colin Casey made eight saves.
Bedford got two goals from Colin Hendrickson and Colby Gendron had a goal and two assists. Bishop Guertin was able to hold Dakota Clark and Samuel Stanton to just a goal apiece.
The Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead in the first quarter before the Cardinals tied it, and led 3-2 going into the second. Bishop Guertin scored three times in the second to lead 5-3 at halftime but Bedford was able to close the game, making a 6-5 game in the third before the Cardinals went on their run.
