Bishop Guertin, Bedford get top seeds in D1 girls basketball tourney

The Cardinals biggest competition is a newcomer, as Bedford, in its first year in the division, is the second seed.
The first round was scheduled to begin on Wednesday, but the threat of weather postponed at least one game.
The No. 1 Cardinals (17-1) were scheduled to host No. 16 Timberlane (5-13) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, with the winner moving on to face No. 9 Merrimack (8-10) or No. 8 Salem (11-7) in the quarterfinals.
No. 5 Nashua North (14-4) had its first-round game against No. 12 Keene (7-11) moved to Thursday at 7 p.m. in Nashua. The winner of that game will face the winner of No. 4 Londonderry (14-4) and No. 13 Nashua South (5-13).
Second-seeded Bedford (16-2) was scheduled to host No. 15 Manchester Central (5-13) on Wednesday, with the winner advancing to the quarterfinals to take on either No. 7 Alvirne (13-5) or No. 10 Exeter (7-11).
Pinkerton (16-2), the third seed, will play host to No. 14 Manchester Memorial (5-13) in the first round, and the winner of that game will get the winner of No. 11 Dover (7-11) and No. 6 Winnacunnet (13-5) in the quarterfinals
All quarterfinal games are scheduled for Saturday at 7 p.m. at the home of the higher seed, while the semifinals will be held March 6 at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. at Southern New Hampshire University.
The championship game will be held March 9 at 7:30 p.m., also at SNHU.
