NASHUA - Sophia Bilodeau wasn't too concerned that the first shot she took in overtime Monday didn't find the back of the net.

Not when the Bishop Guertin High School senior knows how she's able to clean up rebounds.

With the ball in the circle, and only Concord goalie Brooke Nelson in her way, Bilodeau put her first attempt off Nelson's pads, gathered the rebound, and while the Crimson Tide defense closed in, she put a shot into the far corner of the cage.

The goal, Bilodeau's second of the game, gave Bishop Guertin a 3-2 win over Concord in Division I field hockey action at Stellos Stadium.

"I predict the rebound, that’s usually what I go for because that’s what I score off of most of the time," Bilodeau said. "It’s never usually a straight shot. (The goalie) doesn’t know where it’s going to go off her pads usually."

It's how she scored her first goal, too, collecting the rebound off a shot by Addison Daddona on a penalty corner to give the Cardinals (3-1, No. 4 in the NHHSSports Coaches Poll) an early lead.

Emiley Vinciguerra also scored on a penalty corner with no time left in the third quarter, a goal that tied the game at 2.

"We knew Concord coming in was going to be great, looking at their scores and knowing how they’re coached," said Bishop Guertin coach Dakota Bilodeau, Sophia's sister. "We knew this would be a tough game and they’d be evenly matched with us.

"I think they stepped up when we needed to and took advantage of some of our opportunities at the end, which is what we needed. No one wants to go to overtime but we know we have the depth to do it."

The Cardinals were able to keep the ball on the Crimson Tide's side of the field for most of the overtime, which Sophia Bilodeau ended with 5:57 remaining.

"I noticed the ball got put on the other end because of a big drive, and I’ve never wanted to get that ball back on our side more," she said. "It got passed through our midfield and put on the left side, which is abnormal for us. Addie (Daddona) gave me a cross, I shot it and hit the goalie’s pads. I got the rebound and it went in the back."

Concord (3-1, No. 7) got a goal and an assist from Ally McGonigle, with the goal coming in the final seconds of the first half to give the Crimson Tide a 2-1 lead at the break. Amy Desrochers also scored in the second quarter, tying the game midway through the frame.

"We came out a little bit slow the first few minutes, but then we got our feet under us, got used to the turf, and then they just played hard the rest of the game," Concord coach Nicole Armaganian said. "I was very proud of the way they played. It was a really good game of field hockey to watch."

McGonigle's goal was a highlight, as the senior carried the ball down the left side, and once in the circle, sent a reverse shot screaming toward the far side of the cage. It was eerily similar to the game-winning goal scored by Bedford's Eloise Montagano in the Cardinals' only loss.

"We all met in a huddle and said we’ve seen this before," Sophia Bilodeau said of her team's response. "Don’t hang your head, lets go out and score. I think we took that and went."
