Big second half lifts Pioneers past Little Green

The Trinity High School boys basketball team overcame a halftime deficit to knock off Manchester Central 45-38 in Division I action on Tuesday.

The Pioneers (5-0) scored just 15 points in the first half and trailed by four going into the break, but Trinity outscored Central 16-8 in the third quarter to take control of the game.

Zach Stevens scored 15 points, including four 3-pointers, for the Pioneers while Wol Majong added 10 points and Sylvere Aluko had eight in the win. John Wickey led Central (3-2) with 23 points; no one else had more than five points for the Little Green.

Trinity heads to Alvirne on Friday to face the Broncos, while Central will host Timberlane, also on Friday.
