Bedford wins defensive battle over Nashua North

NASHUA - The Bedford High School boys basketball team played frustrating defense and had just enough offense to beat Nashua North 36-33 in the final game Tuesday at the Chick-fil-A Holiday Tournament.

North’s Javon Williams led all scorers with 14 points, but his last-second 3-pointer clanged off the front of the rim, missing its mark like a number of the Titans' shots on the night.

James Caparell led Bedford with eight points and Collin McManus and Trevor Glassman had seven apiece as eight different players scored for the Bulldogs.

Parker Jamerson had eight points for North and Anthony Farmer had six, as the Titans trailed by as many as eight points early in the fourth quarter. North’s pressure defense forced into 10 turnovers in the final eight minutes, but the Titans were unable to convert on their own end thanks to Bedford's 2-3 zone.

The teams combined for just nine points in the first quarter and 24 in the first half. North led 20-17 with 2:25 to play in the third, but Bedford closed the quarter on a 6-0 run.

Bedford will face Thornton Academy at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. North will take on Hollis/Brookline at 4:30 p.m.
