Bedford sweeps Milford in first dual meet of the season

BEDFORD - The Bedford High School boys and girls track teams started the dual meet season with a win, besting Milford on Thursday.
The Bedford girls cruised to a 92.5-51.5 win over the Spartans, while the Bedford boys pulled out a 76-68 win over the Milford boys.
Although the girls were evenly matched as far as first place finishes - Bedford had nine to Milford's eight - it was second- and third-place finishes that put the Bulldogs on top.
Samantha Dee turned in a strong performance, finishing first in the shot put (28-11) to go with second-place finishes in the discus and 100-meter hurdles. Johanna Celli also had a big day, winning the 100 (13.0), finishing third in the 200 and helping the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams to first-place finishes. Jenny Mara also ran a leg of the 4x100 and finished first in the high jump (5-2) and second in the 200.
Amanda Ouellette took first in the javelin (76-8) and came in second in the shot put while Rebecca Greaney won the discus (85-8) and Rachel Allen took second in the javelin and the 300 hurdles and was third in the discus.
Rachael Lowney finished first in the pole vault (7-1) to go with a second-place finish in the 800, and Kristen Larosa (first, 12:41.7) led a Bedford sweep of the 3,200. Taylor Watts took second and Rachel Kassler was third.

Brenna Williams came in second in both the 400 and the long jump and also tied for third in the 100, while Caroline Conrad took second in the 1,600 and third in the 800. Lindsay Veilleux took second in the triple jump and was third in the long jump. Erica Stieper (high jump) and Lauren Costas (pole vault) both had second-place finishes, while Rebecca Gosselin (400) and Hannah Shawver (300 hurdles) had third-place finishes.
Courtney Hawkins and Hannah Ladeau were both double winners for Milford. Hawkins took first in both the 800 (2:29.3) and the 1,600 (5:20.6) while Ladeau was first in the 100 hurdles (16.9) and the 300 hurdles (49.4). KaJay Rooke came in first in the triple jump (31-2.5) and finished third in the 100 hurdles.
Jessica Krafft won the 200 (27.0) and Dina Pitsas was first in the 400 (1:03.1) while Rachel White took first in the long jump (16-1) and was second in the 100 (13.5). Sarena Patel tied for third in the 100 and Kerri Tocci took third in the 1,600 while Gillian Corcoran was third in both the high jump and the triple jump. Camryn Johnson came in third in the shot put and Lauren Benuck was third in the javelin.
Boys
The Spartans held the edge in first-place finishes (9-8), but it was the Bulldogs' depth that got them the win.
Bedford got two first-place finishes from Justin Rooney, who won the shot put (46-3) and the discus (135-5). Kindell Benten came in first in the 110 hurdles (15.7) while Danny Connelly was first in the 200 (23.9) and was third in the long jump and tied for third in the 100. Chris Daubert won the 400 (54.7) and Tristan Whinship was first in the 3,200 (11:04.9). The Bulldogs also won both relays.

Dylan York finished second in the 100, 200 and long jump while Joseph Thibeault was second in the shot put and tied for third in the 100 with Christopher Giraldi, who was also third in the 200. Sam Daly took second in the 1,600 and third in the 3,200 while Justin Fleischacker was second in both the 110 hurdles and the 300 hurdles.
Mike Cambria was second in the 800 and AJ Romero took second in the 3,200 while Jake Winslow (400), Timothy Miller (high jump), Steve Bruno (pole vault), Nick Berman (triple jump) and Evan Lanuza (javelin) were all third in their event.
Max Goudreau led Milford with three first-place finishes, taking the top spot in the 100 (11.0), the long jump (20-7.5) and the triple jump (41-11.5). Connor Jackson was a double winner for the Spartans, as he won the 800 (2:05) and the 1,600 (4:36.9) while Alex Tamulonis took first in the 300 hurdles (49.2) and Tate Poplar won the pole vault (11-3)
Parker Lyttle won the high jump (6-0) to go with second-place finishes in the pole vault and triple jump, and Mark Hamilton took first in the javelin (138-9) and came in second in the discus. Jarad Asselin came in second in the high jump and Peter Benoit was second in the javelin. David Wilson (1,600), Evan Perron (300 hurdles), Jordan Gaudette (shot put) and Connor Gosselin (dicus) came in third in their event.
