MANCHESTER - Ricky Oliver knew what kind of effort it was going to take for his Nashua High School North girls basketball team to beat Bedford in Thursday's Division I semifinal.

Unfortunately for the Titans, no one else from ancient mythology was walking into Southern New Hampshire University to help them.

No. 1 Bedford held No. 4 North scoreless for two long stretches, one in each half, and rolled into the Division I final with a 68-31 win.

"It's going to take a Herculean effort to get it done," Oliver said. "They're just good. They've been here before and that's the difference."

Bedford will go for its second straight title on Sunday, when it takes on No. 2 Londonderry in the championship game at SNHU. The Lancers [held off No. 6 Pinkerton 42-38](http://www.unionleader.com/article/20140313/SPORTS21/140319364/1037/SPORTS21?ref=nh-highschoolsports.com) in the other semifinal.

The Bulldogs (21-0) got a game high 17 points from Rachel Collins, who was 7 of 9 from the field, including3 of 3 on 3-pointers. McKenzie Brown added 13 points and eight rebounds and Haley Driscoll had 12 points and eight boards, as Bedford shot 49.1 percent from the field. Nicole Tucci also had nine points and eight rebounds and the Bulldogs outrebounded North 44-25.

"We were working on just executing cleanly and taking care of the basketball," Bedford coach Sue Thomas said. "Offensively, I think we did a great job with that. Defensively, we worked on stopping the drive and closing out on their 3-point shooters."

For most of the first half, all the Titans (16-5) could make were 3-pointers. North's first basket came on a jumper by Brittany DesRoche just 38 seconds into the game, and didn't score another field goal from inside the 3-point line until 31 seconds were left in the first half.

Taylor Choate and Abigail Streeter each had 10 points for the Titans, who shot just 6 of 24 from the field in the first half, including four 3s.

"We had problems trying to get through on penetration," Oliver said. "We have an inside-outside game. If we can get inside, cutting to the basket, we can do other things and it changes the whole complexity of the game. When you have to rely on the perimeter play, it's hard."

Sara Cordova had three of North's six 3-pointers, including one late in the first quarter that cut Bedford's lead to 15-9\. But that was as close as the Titans could get, as they went nearly five-and-a-half minutes without scoring, as the Bulldogs went on a 12-0 run.

North pulled within 14 points, 31-17, at the half, but Bedford started the third quarter with a 19-0 run to take complete control of the game.

"We talked at halftime about putting the game away, and I'll tell you, they came out passionately in the second half," Thomas said. "Our offense came out, and I always worry about a halftime letdown, especially when things are going well. It was only a 14-point lead and against a good shooting team like that, we talked about it, you can't let up. You have to take control right now and they did."

Now Bedford will try for an undefeated season and its second championship in a row against Londonderry. The Bulldogs beat the Lancers during the regular season, but Londonderry was without guard Aliza Simpson.

"I told the girls, enjoy the rest of the night and be ready to get back to work (Friday)," Thomas said. "We'll watch and see who wins and plan accordingly. We'll tweak what we do depending on who its against. They're two very different teams, so we'll wait and see who we’re up against."
