# Baseball roundup: Titans, Bulldogs stay alive

Jake Mellin pitched the Nashua High School North baseball team back into the Division I semifinals Saturday, while the Bedford baseball team needed some late-game heroics to get itself a return trip to the final four and a rematch in Division II.

Wilton-Lyndeborough had its season ended by Colebrook Saturday in the Division IV quarterfinals.

### Division I

Mellin [struck out seven and allowed three hits](http://www.nashuatelegraph.com/sportshighschoolsports/921743-221/mellin-hurls-north-into-division-i-baseball.html?ref=nh-highschoolsports.com) as No. 1 North defeated No. 9 Manchester Central 5-0 in the quarterfinals Saturday at Holman Stadium. Louis Tarantino drove in three runs on a two-run single and a suicide squeeze for the Titans.

North will face No. 13 Timberlane, which [continued its surprising run](http://www.seacoastonline.com/articles/20110605-SPORTS-106050348?ref=nh-highschoolsports.com) by knocking out No. 12 Winnacunnet 7-4, in the semifinals at 4 p.m. Friday at Holman Stadium.

On the other side of the bracket, No. 6 Concord [defeated](http://www.concordmonitor.com/article/261009/concord-takes-the-next-step?CSAuthResp=%3Asession%3ACSUserId|CSGroupId%3Aapproved%3ABA4A9537C4BF4594E11F4B09D8217743&CSUserId=94&CSGroupId=1&ref=nh-highschoolsports.com) No. 14 Keene 7-5 to advance to the semifinals, where the Crimson Tide will face No. 2 Salem, [which shut out](http://www.fosters.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20110605/GJSPORTS%5F01/706059879/-1/FOSSPORTS03&ref=nh-highschoolsports.com) No. 7 Dover 1-0\. Concord and Salem will play in the other semifinal on Thursday at 4 p.m. at Holman.

### Division II

No. 4 Bedford [came close to ending its season early](http://www.concordmonitor.com/article/261013/no-4-bedford-8-no-12-coe-brown-7?CSAuthResp=%3Asession%3ACSUserId|CSGroupId%3Aapproved%3ABA4A9537C4BF4594E11F4B09D8217743&CSUserId=94&CSGroupId=1&ref=nh-highschoolsports.com) Saturday, but got a walk-off home run to defeated No. 12 Coe-Brown 8-7 in the quarterfinals. The Bulldogs now get to face No. 1 Portsmouth in the semifinals, after the Clippers [defeated](http://www.fosters.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20110605/GJSPORTS%5F01/706059883/-1/FOSSPORTS03&ref=nh-highschoolsports.com) No. 8 Laconia 7-0.

No. 7 St. Thomas knocked off No. 2 Goffstown 3-2, setting up a semifinal game with No. 6 Lebanon, which defeated No. 14 Con-Val 12-2\. The Saints and Raiders will meet at 4 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Field in Concord, while Bedford and Portsmouth will play at 4 p.m. on Friday, also at Memorial Field.

### Division IV

No. 7 Wilton-Lyndeborough fell in the quarterfinals No. 2 Colebrook, 13-3, Saturday. Colebrook will take on No. 6 Lisbon, which defeated No. 3 Portsmouth Christian 3-2, in the semifinals at 4 p.m. Thursday at Plymouth State University.

The other semifinal will feature No. 1 Sunapee and No. 4 Gorham, after Sunapee beat No. 8 Littleton 3-1 and Gorham defeated No. 5 Newmarket 12-2\. Sunapee and Gorham will play at 4 p.m. Friday, also at PSU.
