Around the Granite State: Windham field hockey opens with win over Concord (video)

Sophia Ponzini scored two goals in the first quarter Monday to help lead the Windham High School field hockey team to a 4-1 win over Concord in the Division I opener for both teams.

Sophie Manchester and Sarah Adamske also had a goal each and Kenzie Seuch added an assist for the Jaguars (1-0, No. 1 in the NHHSSports Coaches Poll).

Lilly Merrill had the lone goal for the Crimson Tide (0-1).

Keene 4, Merrimack 0

Sofia Miller and Tessa Pearson each had two goals to lead the Blackbirds (1-0) to a road win over the Tomahawks (0-1).

Kaylyn Trubiano had two assist and Megan Goodwin had one assist while creating a lot of scoring opportunities. Trinity Wiliamson picked up her first win in goal.

No. 4 Dover 2, Man. Central-West 0

The Green Wave (1-0) picked up the win thanks to a goal apiece from Audrey Carter and Julia Rowley.

Londonderry 5, Man. Memorial 2

Ashleigh Leone had two goals to help lead the Lancers (1-0) to a win over the Crusaders (0-1).

Natalie Washington, Ava Windisch and Julia Senus also had a goal each while Maya Silvestro, Alison Chambers and Keira Strike each had an assist.

Salem 10, Nashua North 0

Jenny Olson had three goals to help lead the Blue Devils (1-0) to the win over the Titans (0-1).

Avery Aliberti and Fareedah Adigun added two goals each whileAbby Porter, Sophia Quinlan and Alexi Whipple each chipped in with a goal.

No. 2 Exeter 5, Nashua South 0

The Panthers (0-1) fell in their opener to the Blue Hawks (1-0), despite getting 27 saves from goalie Kaitlyn Tello.

Also played well for South were Karina O’Donnell, Maren Lowell, Lizzie DeRusha, Maddie Berthiaume and Brady Murray.

No. 9 John Stark 2, Merrimack Valley 1

Adie Bolduc scored the game-winner late in the fourth quarter on a penalty corner, with Reagan Fischer picking up the assist, to give the Generals (1-0) the win.

Courtney Cranshaw also had a goal, assisted by Hailey Brisson, while Helen Connor made two saves and Jackie O'Donnell was strong defensively.

No. 3 Bedford 5, No. 10 Pinkerton 1

The Bulldogs (1-0) scored four times in the fourth quarter to break open a close game against the Astros (0-1).

Regan O'Brien had two goals to lead Bedford while Eloise Montagano, Anna Puthey and Teagan O'Donnell each had a goal. Eliana Enners added an assist. Addison Wolfanger made eight saves for the Bulldogs.

Anna Perkins scored her first varsity goal in the final minute for Pinkerton to end the shutout. Elise LeBlanc made 22 saves while Lark Johnson played well defensively. Ava Bennett and Jaelyn Crossman also had good all-around games for the Astros.
