Around the Granite State: Wednesday's Roundup
The Concord High School field hockey team overcame a slow start to grab a 1-0 win over Timberlane on Wednesday in a Division I game.
Kate McKinnon had the lone goal of the game to help the Crimson Tide improve to 3-0 on the year. Concord has yet to allow a goal this season.
Exeter 4, Nashua South 0
The Panthers fell to 0-2 on the season after getting shutout by the Blue Hawks.
Courtney Tello made 16 saves for South while Maddie Rowe, Sarah Picard and Madison Sewade also played well.
Windham 6, Bedford 0
Livi Manchester scored twice early and had an assist to lead the Jaguars to the win over the Bulldogs.
Maddie O'Hare added two goals and two assists while Kenzie Suech also scored twice and Ryane Farrell had an assist.
Derryfield 4, Goffstown 2
The Grizzlies came up short against the Cougars in Division II action, despite getting goals from Makayla Strickulis and Shannon Gifford. Sarah Mattison made nine saves for Goffstown.
Girls Volleyball
Hollis Brookline 3, Exeter 0
The Cavaliers picked up a big road win over the Blue Hawks, winning 25-18, 25-16 and 25-21.
Kaleigh Whalen led the way with 10 kills and Maren Anderson added seven kills. Sammie Sheppard had 11 digs and Lauren Ingraham had six digs while Sydney Powers recorded a block.
Anderson, Sheppard and Ellie Jordan also each had long service runs.
Bishop Guertin 3, Merrimack 0
The Cardinals picked up their first win with a sweep of the Tomahawks. Game scores were 25-13, 25-14 and 25-21.
Elizabeth Knapp led Bishop Guertin (1-1) with 13 kills, 13 digs and two aces while Emma Charron had five digs and four aces. Kristen Coumas had 26 assists and Madison Keating had eight digs and three aces.
Spaulding 3, Timberlane 1
The Red Raiders picked up a win over the Owls. Game scores were 25-16, 25-12, 13-25 and 25-22.
Haleigh Gullison had 16 kills for Spaulding and April Beatty added seven kills while Grace Beaulieu had 33 assists.
