Around the Granite State: Wednesday's Roundup

Anna Perkins tipped in a rebound late in the second quarter and it was enough to give the Pinkerton Academy field hockey team a 1-0 win Wednesday over Timberlane.

Elise LeBlanc made seven saves for the Astros (1-0-1, No. 6 in the NHHSSports Coaches Poll) while Natalie Paradzick, Paige Murray and Caitlyn Lemay also played well defensively.

Brandi Garand made 31 saves for the Owls (0-2).

No. 2 Windham 4, Manchester Central-West 0

Lilyana Micciche scored twice to help lead the Jaguars to the win.

Sophie Manchester added a goal and two assists and Aly Sinopoli also scored for Windham (2-0). Ava Pelletier and Sophia Ponzini also added an assist apiece.

Chloe Gilroy made 41 saves in goal for Central-West, including one on a penalty stroke. Colleen Stankiewicz, Armani Holmes and Rosie Tague-Bleu also played well.

No. 8 Bishop Guertin 2, Salem 0

The Cardinals opened the season with a win, getting goals from Skylar Naftali and Sophie Bilodeau.

Assists went to Maddie Harrington and Taylor Guibord for Bishop Guertin.

Keene 2, Nashua South 0

Cece Walier had a goal and an assist to lead the Blackbirds (2-0) to a road win over the Panthers.

Walier deflected in a shot by Tessa Pearson to make it 1-0 and helped Keene put the game away, finding Olive Thatcher for a goal with two minutes remaining.

Trinity Williamson made two saves and Sarah Weber made a big play defensively to keep South off the board.

Xiadani DeLaLima led the Panthers with 16 saves while Emily Richard, Roseamme Shiju, Keira Walsh and Meenu Dwaraka played well defensively.

No. 9 Portsmouth 2, Derryfield 1 (OT)

Shiloh Weinstein scored twice, including the game-winner in overtime, as the Clippers opened the year with a win.

Reese McCauley played well in goal for Portsmouth.

No. 5 John Stark 4, Hollis Brookline 0 (Tuesday)

Jillian Fredette scored twice and the Generals opened the year with a win over the Cavaliers.

Hailey Brisson added a goal and an assist and Lauryn Guevin also scored while Claudia Dustin and Caylin Worthen each had an assist.

Addy Pelletier (five saves) and Edie Fischer combined on the shutout while Adie Bolduc, Emelee Lundeen, Kaitlin Dennis and Emily Fredette played well defensively.

Lebanon 5, Milford 0 (Tuesday)

The Spartans fell at home to the Raiders in their first game of the  season.

Lebanon led 1-0 going into the third quarter before breaking the game open. Violet Renda made 15 saves for Milford.
