Around the Granite State: Tuesday's Roundup
The Laconia High School boys lacrosse team got five goals from Jakob Steele to open the season with a 15-8 win over Milford in Division III action on Tuesday.
Ryan Chiasson added four goals for the Sachems (1-0) while Cole Reid and Caleb Roy had three goals apiece.
Milford got solid offensive play from Corey Girouard, Matt Hannon and Gavin Urda while Alex Taylor and Samson Hodges played well on defense and Kyle Forsley was good in goal.
Bishop Guertin 17, Bedford 8
The Cardinals scored eight goals in the second quarter on the way to a big win over the Bulldogs to open the season.
Ben Abladian had five goals and an assist to lead Bishop Guertin (1-0) while Sean Cameron added three goals and five assists and Dawson Clark (assist) and Michael Kiely each had two.
Alex Koutsos added a goal and an assist while Joey Lupo, Chris Kiely, Alex Ryan and TJ Quigley also had a goal each and Chris Heitmiller had an assist.
James Heitmiller had eight saves for the Cardinals and Matt Burns made three stops.
Girls Lacrosse
Souhegan 18, Salem 0
The Sabers opened Division I play with a shutout of the Blue Devils.
Abby Hawks led the way for Souhegan (1-0) with five goals and two assists and Savannah Behn had four goals and three assists. Taylor Clark also recorded a hat trick while O'Neill Galinson and Clare Woodford each had two goals and an assist.
Delaney Facques and Margot Manz had a goal apiece and Hannah Rowe had an assist while Shannon Hargreaves made two saves.
Grace Owalda made two stops for Salem (0-1).
Boys Volleyball
Hollis Brookline 3, Bishop Guertin 1
The Cavaliers rallied after dropping the first game to the Cardinals, winning 18-25, 25-19, 25-23 and 25-12.
Sander Wimmer had 12 kills and Michael Moscatelli added 10 kills to lead HB (1-0) while Connor Russell had seven aces and five kills.
Matt Wojick recorded nine kills while Quinten Wimmer had three blocks. Joshua Ide finished with 35 assists and Felix Yanh had eight digs.
