Around the Granite State: Souhegan field hockey gets past Bishop Guertin
Here are results from Friday's high school sports action.
AMHERST - Ori Dart had two goals and an assist Friday night to help lead the Souhegan High School field hockey team to a 4-1 win over Bishop Guertin.
Scarlett Leclost and Abby Mayo also had goals for the Sabers (10-0-2, No. 3 in the New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center/NHHSSports Coaches Poll) while Ella Russell and Mariellah Dart each had an assist.
Emerson McCarthy had the lone goal for the Cardinals (5-6-1) and Emma Smith finished with 14 saves, seven of them in the first quarter.
Ori Dart got Souhegan on the board on a penalty stroke in the first quarter and added her second goal moments later to give the Sabers a 2-0 lead after one. Leclost scored early in the second to make it 3-0 before McCarthy got Bishop Guertin on the board before halftime.
No. 1 Winnacunnet 1, No. 8 Londonderry 0
Emily Arlington scored with 6:38 remaining in the game to give the Warriors a win over the Lancers.
Riley Gagalis finished with five saves for Winnacunnet, which improved to 11-0 on the season.
Molly Tharrington recorded 15 saves for Londonderry (5-5-1), which had two penalty corners with no time left to end the game.
No. 10 Hanover 3, Plymouth 1
Joia Collins scored two goals and had an assist to lead the Bears to a win over the Bobcats.
Greta Mancini added a goal and an assist for Hanover (9-2-1), which had 20 penalty corners. Collins and Mancini scored a minute apart early in the first quarter to give the Bears the lead.
Katie Hancock scored for Plymouth (6-4-1), as she deflected in a lift by Jill Rubbe just 26 seconds into the fourth quarter. Carmen Donis finished with 28 saves while Autumn Lane also played well defensively.
Hopkinton 7, Stevens 0
Carlie Leino had two goals and two assists as the Hawks rolled to a win over the Cardinals.
Aurelia Salce added two goals and an assist and Autumn Meier also scored twice for Hopkinton (9-1). Lauren Vetter recorded a goal and an assist while Mary Maughan and Sadie Pelletier played strong defensively.
No. 2 Pinkerton 4, No. 9 Dover 2
The Astros got goals from four players in a win over the Green Wave.
Meg Shea had a goal and an assist while Brynn McKenna, Ashley Clouthier and Gwen Lee each had a goal for Pinkerton (10-0-2). Cayden Madeiros recorded two assists and Kara McIntyre also had a helper.
Molly Kuncik made 13 saves while Clouthier and McKenna both played well.
Hollis Brookline 2, John Stark 2 (OT)
Down 2-0 heading into the fourth quarter, the Generals scored twice, including the tying goal with six seconds left, and finished in a tie with the Cavaliers.
Aberdeen Demers-Younie got John Stark (5-6-1) on the board off an assist from Addie DeCew. Lyla Raymond tied the game when she tipped a shot by Karrington Telgen up into the top of the net.
HB (5-5-2) got goals from Lilly Hamilton and Addyson Olszewski.
Windham 2, Concord 1 (OT)
The Jaguars got a win in overtime against the Crimson Tide.
Lyle Filadoro and Emma Adamske had a goal apiece for Windham (5-6) while Kiera Lee, Bayla Peretz and Grace Corbett also played well.
Milford 3, Manchester 1
The Spartans came back in the second half to beat the Kings on senior night.
Calleigh Krycki scored on a penalty corner and Charlotte Dutton also had a goal in the third quarter that gave Milford (3-8-1) the lead. Lily Webster also scored, giving the Spartans a two-goal lead in the fourth.
Angelina Waller and Paige Bernier played well offensively while Nadia Dutton, Allie Cardin and Katie Kilmer were strong on defense. Norah Cardin fininshed with four saves.
With the win, Milford has more than two wins in a season since 2017.
No. 6 Merrimack 2, Timberlane 0
The Tomahawks got goals from Josephine Swisher and Grace Massey in a win over the Owls.
No. 7 Bedford 4, Exeter 2
The Blue Hawks came up short on the road against the Bulldogs.
Jane Lyons and Emma Amarosa had a goal apiece for Exeter (5-6) and Emilee Butenas recorded an assist.
Girls Volleyball
Hollis Brookline 3, Milford 0
The Cavaliers rolled to a sweep of the Spartans. Game scores were 25-13, 25-21 and 25-16.
Naia Rassmussen had seven kills and Sofia Bozic had seven aces to lead HB to the win (7-3). Nicole Kosakowski added six kills and four perfect receptions.
Dami Holman added nine perfect receptions and two aces while Alana Adams had eight perfect receptions and two blocks.
