Around the Granite State: Souhegan field hockey blanks Hollis Brookline
Here are results from Tuesday's high school field hockey action.
AMHERST - The Souhegan High School field hockey team scored twice in the third quarter to break open a close game on the way to a 5-0 Tuesday night against Hollis Brookline.
Abby Mayo, Ori Dart and Eme Godin each had a goal and an assist while Scarlett Lacolst and Ella Duclos had a goal apiece for the Sabers (7-0-2, No. 3 in the New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center/NHHSSports Coaches Poll). Mariellah Dart added two assists for Souhegan.
The Cavaliers (3-4-1) got 11 saves from Maddie Barich.
Plymouth 6, Merrimack Valley 1
The Bobcats picked up a win over the Pride in a Play for a Purpose game, with Plymouth playing for Alzheimer's awareness and MV playing for mental health.
The Pride got on the board first on a penalty stroke, but the Bobcats (6-1-1) tied it in the second quarter on a goal by Jill Rubbe.
Serena McKenney had two goals and an assist in the second half and Kellen Mitchell added a goal and an assist for Plymouth. Peyton Moore and Aaliyah Muzzey also scored.
Timberlane 3, Concord 1
Rylee O'Connor scored twice to help the Owls pick up the win over the Crimson Tide.
Brooke Salafia also scored while Danica Travers and Maeve Hayes each added an assist for Timberlane (6-2). Nora Dufresne recorded seven saves while Aubrey Fitzgerald and Viv Fortin played well defensively.
Emma Barry had the lone goal for Concord (1-6).
Lebanon 3, Kingswood 0
The Raiders snapped a two-game slid with a win over the Knights.
Claire Kelly had two goals and a defensive save, with both goals coming on penalty corners. On the first, Summer Crowell was able to collect the ball and send it across the circle to Kelly, and on the second, Claire Swope found Kelly on the post for the score
Swope also had a goal for Lebanon (4-4) and Parker Rancourt added an assist. Taylor Youngman made five saves to earn the shutout while Morgan Fitts had two defensive saves.
St. Thomas 8, ConVal 0
Riley Thomas two goals and two assists to lead the Saints past the Cougars for their seventh win in a row.
Mollie Gaynor also scored twice and had an assist while Mattie Williams had a goal and an assist for St. Thomas (7-1).
Sophia Kelly, Nora Massicotte and Leah Walsh also scored and Karys Murphy had an assist.
Mascenic 9, Monadnock 0
Eight players had goals for the Vikings, including two from Kiahna Farrey, as they beat the Huskies.
Iris Traffie, Hailey Saari, Olivia Klebes, Grace Matson, Eden Traffie, Reese Alix and Lily Alix added a goal apiece for Mascenic (6-1-1) while Evelynn Shippie recorded the shutout in goal.
No. 8 Hanover 6, Oyster River 0
The Bears got goals from six players as they cruised past the Bobcats.
Joia Collins, Anna Farrell, Greta Mancini, Sophia Mancini, Maddie Hutton-Hiatt and Elizabeth Anderson each had a goal for Hanover (6-2-1) while Ruby Lintner got the shutout in goal.
