Around the Granite State: Nashua South girls lacrosse erupts in win over Keene-Monadnock (video)

The Nashua High School South girls lacrosse team started the season with an offensive outburst, getting goals from 10 players in a 17-1 win over Keene-Monadnock on Monday at Stellos Stadium.

Maddy Matelewski led the way with five goals for the Panthers while Bella Walsh had three goals and an assist and Kaitlyn West had two goals and an assist. Kylie Dawe added a goal and three assists to go with three draw controls and Maren Lowell also had a goal and three draw controls.

Bailey Carroll, Vanessa Reeder, Morgan Preston, Maddie Berthiaume and Abby Roy also had a goal apiece. Kiera Walsh made three saves and Audrey Mullaney had two.

Pinkerton 19, Manchester Central 1

Ali Lamphere had four goals and an assist to lead the Astros to the opening-day win over the Little Green.

Hailey Schnider added three goals and an assist while Hannah Lisauskas had a goal and three assists, Bella Pinardi had two goals and Cait Seleny added four assists.

Piper Knowlton, Peyton Knowlton and Emma Thompson each had a goal and an assist. Tate Howe, Anna Perkins, Emma Madden, Ashlyn Ledoux, Tina Packowski and Elise Saab also had  a goal apiece.

Lauren Sweeney finished with eight saves for Pinkerton while Sarah Diclemente and Brenna Hines each had a save.

Souhegan 16, Merrimack 2

Elle Stevenson and McKenzie Cretsinger each had a big day to lead the Sabers to a win over the Tomahawks,

Stevenson had four goals and three assists and Cretsinger added three goals and three assists as the pair also helped Souhegan collected 14 draw controls. Abby Giannetti also had three goals and Maddie Lim and Emma Kennedy each scored twice.

Riley Devine and Lyla Kimball (three groundballs) each had a goal and an assist while Shannon Hargreaves made five saves.

Dover 20, Nashua North 3

The Green Wave got a solid effort from Payton Denning on both ends of the field in the win over the Titans.

Denning had five goals and an assist and forced eight turnovers for Dover while Julia Rowley added four goals. Molly Goodridge (assist), Rylen Gray (assist), Megan Healy, Danielle Young (assist) and Arianna Bowden each had two goals in the win.

Ani Brooks also had a goal and Arissa Hendrato made three saves in her first varsity action in goal.

Kearsarge 13, Trinity 3

The Pioneers fell to the Cougars on the road despite getting two goals from Faith Ampuja.

Arabella Mariano also had her first varsity goal while also recording two draw controls and getting two groundballs. Maeve Smith, Meghan Schmidt and Madeline Souza also played well for Trinity.

Man. Memorial-West 9, Alvirne 8

The Broncos dropped their opener when the Crusaders scored in the final two minutes of the game.

Halle Miller had three goals and won 14 of 16 draw controls for Alvirne while Maddison Nicolosi also had a hat trick. Elisa Ferullo added two goals and Alexa Kruger made 17 saves in her first varsity game in goal.

Coe-Brown 16, Spaulding 4

The Red Raiders came up short against the Bears despite getting two goals from Lily Hunt.

Hannah Raad and Sophie Olsen also scored for Spaulding and Izzy Orrell made 13 saves in her first varsity start in goal.

Boys Lacrosse

Nashua South 17, Keene-Monadnock 0

Griffin Johnson had five goals and five assists to lead the Panthers to the road win over the Blackbirds.

Connor Rowsell added three goals and five assists while Nate Campbell had three goals and three assists. Michael Rutstein had two goals and an assist and Parker Fleury scored twice.

Beau Dubois and Cole Rioux had a goal apiece and Rhett Medling picked up an assist. Ethan Johnson made seven saves and Colin Sewade had two.

Boys Volleyball

Hollis Brookline 3, Bishop Guertin 0

The Cavaliers opened the season with a convincing sweep of the Cardinals. Scores were 25-8, 25-13 and 25-11.

Jake Laborde had 10 kills and six saves and John Sommer added eight kills and seven aces. Aidan Norris recorded four kills and three aces while Bradley Noble had two blocks and Ethan Norris had 28 assists.
