Around the Granite State: Nashua South field hockey splits a pair of games
The Nashua High School South field hockey team picked up its first win of the season Saturday over Merrimack before falling at Winnacunnet on Monday.
Against the Tomahawks, the Panthers came away with a 2-1 win, getting two goals from Kaitlyn West. Karina O'Donnell and Soleil Dubois each had an assist for South.
Nora Palkon, Brady Murray, Olivia Laro, Rythie Mosley and Lizzie DeRusha played well defensively while Kaitlyn Tello made two saves.
Against the Warriors, the Panthers fell 4-0, despite getting 23 saves from Tello. Also played well for South (1-3-2) were Laro, DeRusha, Dubois and West.
Keene 1, Pinkerton 1 (OT)
Kaylyn Trubiano scored the lone goal for the Blackbirds as they moved to 3-1-1 on the season with a tie against the Astros.
Keene had a goal waved in the third quarter and finally took a 1-0 lead on Trubiano's goal with 3:26 left in the game. Meghan Goodwin recorded an assist.
Pinkerton tied the game with two minutes left and the teams went back-and-forth in overtime. Eliza Ballaro played well for the Blackbirds and Bella Venezia made eight saves.
