Around the Granite State: Merrimack field hockey blanks Dover
MERRIMACK - The Merrimack High School field hockey team scored a goal in each of the first three quarters Friday to get a 3-0 win against Dover.
Jordan Burns, Grace Massey and Allie Wyand had a goal apiece for the Tomahawks (3-2), who won their third game in a row. Annabelle Cassetty finished with four saves for Merrimack.
The Green Wave (4-2, No. 6 in the New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center/NHHSSports Coaches Poll) got six saves from goalie Scarlett Gray, including the 200th save of her career.
No. 1 Pinkerton 2, Concord 1
The Astros picked up a road win over the Crimson Tide.
Lauren Sherry and Jordyn Schreiber each had a goal for Pinkerton (3-0-1) and Gwen Lee added an assist. Molly Kuncik finished with three saves and Cora Blanchette played well defensively.
No. 9 Bishop Guertin 1, No. 5 Londonderry 0
The Cardinals went on the road and handed the Lancers their first loss of the year.
Emerson McCarthy scored her first varsity goal in the second half and Emma Smith made six saves to help Bishop Guertin (2-2-1) get the win.
Plymouth 1, Hollis Brookline 1 (OT)
Despite falling behind early, the Bobcats rallied to salvage a tie against the Cavaliers.
Lexi Joyce scored the tying goal in the final seconds of the first quarter for Plymouth (4-0-1) and the teams would play the final three quarters and overtime without scoring. Serena McKenney had an assist on the goal.
HB had a chance for the lead on a penalty stroke, but Carmen Donis came up with the save to keep the game tied. Ella Duchette and Mabel Shuffleton also played well for Plymouth.
No. 4 Keene 1, No. 8 Bedf0rd 0
The Blackbirds picked up a win over the Bulldogs on the road in a rematch of last year's Division I title game.
Natalia Gillis tipped in a shot by Scarlett Miller on a penalty corner in the third quarter to get the game's only goal for Keene (4-1).
Dayna English recorded seven saves for her second shutout of the season while Mia Snowling, Paige Ells and Julianna Hamm played well for the Blackbirds.
Hopkinton 12, Winnisquam 0
Autumn Meier had four goals to lead the Hawks past the Bears.
Carlie Leino added three goals for Hopkinton (3-0) while Ryan Barrett and Aurelia Salce had two goals apiece. Lauren Vetter also had a goal.
Mascenic 4, Derryfield 0
Reese Alix scored three goals to lead the Vikings to the win over the Cougars.
Kiahna Farrey added a goal and an assist for Mascenic (3-0-1) while Grace Matson and Scarlet Neilson each had an assist.
Windham 1, Goffstown 0
Grace Corbett scored the game's only goal with 10:15 left in the first quarter and the Jaguars made it stand in a win over the Grizzlies.
Sydney Rokel had six saves for Windham while Hope Moulton finished with 10 saves for Goffstown.
Girls Volleyball
Hollis Brookline 3, Pelham 0
The Cavaliers swept the Pythons to win their fourth in a row start the season. Game scores were 25-17, 25-5 and 25-16.
Sasha Arroyo led the way for HB with 17 aces while Nicole Kosakowski had 10 kills and five perfect receptions.
Angie Dillberg and Naia Rassmussen added four kills apiece and Max Walsh had 12 assists and one ace.
