Around the Granite State: Goffstown, Bishop Guertin field hockey finish in a tie
Here are results from Wednesday's high school sports action.
NASHUA - The Goffstown and Bishop Guertin high school field hockey teams did all their scoring in the first half Wednesday night and finished in a 2-2 tie.
The Grizzlies (0-2-1) got on the board first on a goal by Trinity Lunn with 9:33 left in the first quarter. The Cardinals (1-2-1, No. 9 in the New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center/NHHSSports Coaches Poll) took the lead on back-to-back goals by Sophia Harrington and Shayne Amico just 1:50 apart early in the second quarer.
Goffstown's Stella Enman tied the game up with 4:27 left in the first half, scoring on a penalty corner.
Hope Moulton finished with six saves for Goffstown while Bishop Guertin goalie Emma Smith had two saves.
The game was Bishop Guertin's Blackout Childhood Cancer Night, in support of Project Blackout.
No. 1 Pinkerton 2, No. 8 Bedford 1
Gwen Lee scored both goals to help lead the Astros to a win over the Bulldogs.
Molly Kuncik finished with six saves for Pinkerton (2-0-1).
No. 2 Winnacunnet 3, No. 4 Keene 2
The Warriors went on the road to hand the Blackbirds their first loss of the season.
Megan Kelly, McKinley Fowler and Sofia Donatelli each had a goal for Winnacunnet (3-0). The Warriors took the lead in the game's opening minute, and after Keene tied it going into halftime, Winnacunnet scored midway through the third.
Natalia Gillis and Lola Ballaro each had a goal for the Blackbirds (3-1). Scarlett Miller recorded an assist.
No. 5 Londonderry 2, Concord 1
Sadie Moore had a goal and an assist to help the Lancers past the Crimson Tide.
Kyla Seaburg also had a goal for Londonderry (3-0) while Gemma Murray and Abby Chambers each had an assist. Molly Tharrington recorded four saves.
Brooke Nelson led Concord with 16 saves.
No. 6 Dover 4, Salem 0
Molly Angers scored two goals and had an assist for the Green Wave in a win over the Blue Devils.
Kate Lavoie and Kate Zbikowski added a goal apiece for Dover (4-1) and Scarlett Gray earned the shutout in goal.
Pelham 1, Winnisquam 0
The Pythons picked up their first win of the season, going on the road to beat the Bears.
Sam Sauvigne scored the game's lone goal for Pelham (1-3) while Mya Dion, Kylie McDonald and Ammiea Alvarez played well.
Windham 7, Nashua North 0
Emma Adamske had three goals to lead the Jaguars past the Titans.
Emma Mulrenan also scored twice for Windham (1-2) while Ali Pallaria and Grace Mahoney had a goal apiece.
Girls Volleyball
Hollis Brookline 3, Merrimack Valley 0
The Cavaliers went on the road to get a win over the Pride. Game scores were 25-8, 25-12 and 25-14.
Sasha Arroyo had six aces for HB (3-0) while Tia Miglani had five aces and Alana Adams had six serve receptions. Vivienne Turcotte added five kills and Sam Burke had three kills for the Cavs.
Portsmouth Christian 3, Concord Christian 0
The Eagles picked up a win with a sweep of the Kingsmen. Game scores were 25-16, 25-10 and 25-13.
Dylan Anderson had eight kills, one block and two aces, as she hit .800 for the match, while Bea Monahan had four kills, six assists, two aces and four digs.
Caroline Braman had four kills and four digs and Lexi Jordan added 12 assists, seven aces and five digs.
