Around the Granite State: Girls Lacrosse Quarterfinal Roundup

The Souhegan High School girls lacrosse team moved on to the Division I semifinals with a commanding 15-1 win over Nashua South in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

Taylor Clark led the way for the No. 4 Sabers (14-3) with six goals and an assist and Abby Hawkes had four goals. O'Neill Calinson had a goal and four assists while Savannah Behn and Clare Woodford each had a goal and three assists.

Hannah Rowe also had two goals for Souhegan and Alex LaBrosse made eight saves.

Olivia Johnson had the lone goal for No. 5 South (11-8) while Bailey Morin had an assist and Rileigh Bunton made five saves.

The Sabers will take on top-seeded Pinkerton in the semifinals Saturday at 7 p.m. at Bill Ball Stadium in Exeter.

Division II

No. 2 Hollis Brookline 18, No. 7 Hanover 1

The Cavaliers avenged their first loss of the season in the quarterfinals by rolling past the Marauders, scoring 15 unanswered goals.

Abbey Magnuszewski and Paisley Broadhurst each had four goals to lead HB (14-2) while Kelsey Sweeney, Tasha White and Victoria Bruzik added three goals apiece. Nicole Heiter also had a goal for the Cavs.

Olivia Valentine made 10 saves in goal while Caroline Smith, Reagan Berry, Ellie Maxwell and Heiter played well defensively.

HB will take on No. 3 Winnacunnet in the semifinals Saturday at 5 p.m. at Stellos Stadium in Nashua.

Division III

No. 3 Derryfield 10, No. 6 St. Thomas 6

The Cougars broke open a tied game in the second half, outscoring the Saints 6-2 on the way to the quarterfinal win.

Olivia Strong led Derryfield (12-3) with four goals and an assist and Lucy Licata had three goals and a helper. Charlotte Rohlfs had a goal and an assist while Sydney Socha and Maggie Cissel added a goal apiece. Sophie Brandt also had an assist.

Shawna Lesmerises made 15 saves while Jess Carr, Lauren MacLean, Karla Meschkat, Julia Tilton and Leah Hoey played well defensively.

The Cougars move on to face No. 2 Kearsarge in the semifinals Saturday at 5 p.m. at Bank of America Stadium in Laconia.
