Around the Granite State: Friday's Roundup
The Goffstown High School boys lacrosse team opened the regular season Friday with an 11-9 win over Oyster River in Division II action.
Nick Mason led the way for the Grizzlies (1-0) with four goals and an assist and Ben O'Brien had three goals and a helper. Devin Young also had three goals and Eric Dubois added one, while Sean Smith and Charlie Keith each had an assist. Evan Daigle and Grady Chretien combined to make seven saves.
Oyster River (0-2) got six goals and an assist from Max Litchfield while Nick Ackerman had two goals and two assists and Sam Davies also scored. Taylor Clyde made three saves.
Concord 13, Manchester Central 4
The Crimson Tide (1-0) picked up a win in their season opener, pulling away in the second half to beat the Little Green.
Leading the way for Concord were Brendan Pearl, who had two goals and five assists, and Sam Nichols, who had four goals and one assist.
Nah Fye chipped in with three goals and Spencer Burgess added two scores, while Eaton Tarbell and Max Van Fleet had a goal apiece. Jeff Emmons had two assists and Eddy Kalukiewicz made 10 saves.
Coe-Brown 8, Gilford 6
The Bears picked up their first win of the season by holding off the Eagles in the fourth quarter.
Cole Hodgdon led the Coe-Brown offense with five goals and Jacob Radwan added a goal and three assists. Ben Watson and Cal Welch also had a goal each while Mitchell Wade recorded an assist and Dakota West did well on faceoffs.
Zac Sheehan added 11 saves for the Bears.
Girls Lacrosse
Bedford 13, Nashua South 4
The Panthers kept it close in the first half, but the Bulldogs scored seven goals in the second half to pull away for the win.
Bailey Morin had two goals and an assist to lead South (0-2) while Sarah Signorello added a goal and an assist and Liz Harrington also had a goal.
Abby Rowe made 16 saves for the Panthers, while Livvy Kingswon, Emma Pucillo, Tara Saliany and Izzy Bolduc played well defensively.
Oyster River 10, Hollis Brookline 7
The Cavaliers fell behind early, but despite outscoring the Bobcats in the second half, couldn't complete the comeback.
Kelsey Sweeney and CeCe Fetter each had three goals and an assist for HB (1-1), while Paisley Broadhurst also had a goal. Tasha White did well on the draw and Victoria Bruzik collected six ground balls.
Olivia Valentine finished with eight saves, most of which came in the second half.
