Around the Granite State: Friday's Roundup
The Hollis Brookline High School girls volleyball team picked up its 14th win of the year with a 3-0 sweep of Winnacunnet. Scores were 25-9, 25-17 and 25-18.
Maddie Norris had eight kills and 13 digs for the Cavaliers (14-0), while Ashley Burtt had five kills and two blocks and Maren Anderson had five kills and one block. Kyra Belden recorded 27 assists and Sammie Sheppard had 14 digs and four aces.
HB held a fundraiser Friday for the Kendall Van Schoick memorial scholarship, and on Oct. 12, the Cavs will host a Dig Pink fundraiser during the match against Pinkerton.
Bishop Guertin 3, Pinkerton 0
The Cardinals bounced back from a loss their last time out with a sweep of Pinkerton on Friday. Scores were 25-22, 25-16 and 25-21.
Julia Pascucci had 11 kills, 13 assists and 10 digs for Bishop Guertin (11-2) and Paola Matos had 15 digs and three aces. Alicia Glasheen recorded 19 assists and Rita Dow had seven kills and three blocks while Libby Knapp had 13 digs and seven kills.
Epping 3, Nute 2
The Blue Devils battled back and forth for a win over the Rams. Scores were 25-19, 24-26, 25-20, 21-25 and 15-11.
Gabi Hughes had 30 digs, 14 kills, one ace and one assist for Epping (9-3) and Anna Re had 14 kills, three digs, three aces and one block. Oakley Lustenberger had 43 assists, 11 digs, four kills and two aces.
Portsmouth Christian 3, Hillsboro-Deering 0
The Eagles got their second win of the season by scores of 25-14, 25-21 and 25-22.
Alicia O'Neil led the way with six kills, six aces and nine digs and Riley Marelli had four kills for PCA (2-9). Becca Jones added five kills and three aces while Ashley O'Neil had 13 assists and four aces and Hannah Abraham had nine digs.
Boys Soccer
Milford 4, Souhegan 3 (2OT)
Colby Kolk scored in the 96th minute to give the Spartans the win over the Sabers in Division II action.
Milford (2-10) took the led in the ninth minute on a goal by Paxton Ducharme, but Chris Weeden scored off an assist from Mike Estabrook in the 16th minute to tie it up. Estabrook then got a goal of his own in the 26th minute to give Souhegan a 2-1 lead.
The lead didn't last long, as Connor Sullivan converted an assist from Ryan Thompson for a Milford goal and a 2-2 game at halftime.
The Spartans went ahead in the 68th minute on a Noah Matthews goal, with Jacob Leo getting the assist, but Souhegan (1-9) forced overtime on a goal by Miles Drum in the 72nd minute. Alex Lin got the assist.
Ethan Ramm made eight saves for Souhegan while Milford's Riley Hansen made six saves.
