Around the Granite State: Friday's Roundup

Caitlin Ridings scored on a penalty stroke in overtime Friday to give the Souhegan High School field hockey team a 2-1 win over Lebanon in the season opener.

Ori Dart also scored for the Sabers (1-0, No. 7 in the NHHSSports Coaches Poll). Lebanon goalie Meghanne Cheevers played well, helping the Raiders keep the game tied in the second half.

Kearsarge 4, Monadnock 0

Tori Montagna scored three goals to lead the Cougars to a season-opening win over the Huskies in Division III action.

Abby Bradbury also had a goal to open the scoring while Gracysee Foster had an assist. Freshman Stella Syversten also had a helper and was one of three freshmen in the lineup for Kearsarge.

Bedford 4, Manchester Central-West 0

Colleen Stankiewicz and Armani Holmes played well for Central-West but it wasn't enough in a season-opening loss to the Bulldogs.

Chloe Gilroy made 23 saves for Central-West.
