Around the Granite State: Boys Lacrosse Quarterfinal Roundup (video)

The top-seeded Exeter High School boys lacrosse team jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first quarter Saturday and never looked back in a 15-4 win over No. 8 Concord in the Division I quarterfinals.

Gavin Lechner led the Blue Hawks (18-1, No. 2 in the NHHSSports Coaches Poll) with five goals and two assists while Aiden Drunsic scored all four of his goals in the second half. Matt Denman added three goals while Owen Williams had two scores and Adam Neil had a goal and an assist.

Ethan Bernich made seven saves for Exeter.

Concord (9-10) got three goals from Dan O'Brien while Nate Doherty also had a goal and Colby Bettens made 14 saves. Zan Alberici was 12 of 23 on faceoffs.

Exeter will now face No. 4 Londonderry in the semifinals at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at Exeter.

No. 2 Bishop Guertin 18, No. 7 Bedford 2

The Cardinals (17-2, No. 1) jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back to knock off the Bulldogs (8-9).

Brady Dumont had four goals and an assist to lead Bishop Guertin while Quinn Cepiel had two goals and three assists. Connor Bouvier also scored twice and had two helpers while JJ Murphy and Caleb Yeung had two goals apiece.

Kevin Broderick, Noah Zeman, Ryan Jolicoeur and Jacob Caron also had a goal each and Micah Dunsmoor had an assist. Zach Connerty (two saves), Will Murphy (three), Liam O'Keefe (two) and Michael MacDonough (one) combined for the win in goal.

Bishop Guertin will now face No. 6 Pinkerton in the semifinals at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Exeter.

Division II

No. 1 Portsmouth 14, No. 8 Oyster River-Newmarket 4

Zac Amend scored six goals to lead the Clippers (18-1, No. 3) to the win over the Bobcats (10-8).

Michael O'Neil had three goals and two assists and Dom Maldari had two goals and a helper. Keigen Delisle also scored twice and Nick Smith had a goal and dominated on faceoffs.

Dylan Roelofs also had two assists for Portsmouth and Max Brown and Keghan Myers also played well.

Gabe Goodwin led ORN with three goals and Jake Failla had a goal and an assist.

Portsmouth moves on to the semifinals where it will face No. 4 Timberlane at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday in Nashua, in a rematch of last year's D2 title game.

No. 2 Derryfield 14, No. 7 ConVal 3

Tate Flint had three goals and five assists as the Cougars (14-3, No. 5) advanced with a win over the Cougars (11-5).

Alex Murray had two goals and two assists while RJ Proulx and Quinn Silvio had two goals and a helper each. John Kramer also scored twice and Ethan Flanagan, Chili Cabot and Liam Canty had a goal apiece.

Parker Lebiedz made eight saves and Logan Purvis won 13 of 16 faceoffs.

ConVal got a goal each from Ronan McNamara, Kell McMahon and Eric McGrath. Cody Siegel had an assist and Nick Squatrito made eight saves.

Derryfield will take on No. 3 Windham in the semifinals at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Nashua.

Division III

No. 2 Hopkinton 10, No. 7 Trinity 7

Quinn Whitehead had four goals to help lead the Hawks (13-2) to a quarterfinal win over the Pioneers (9-7).

Ryan Brown added a goal and four assists while Ethan Molnar and Josh Duval had two goals apiece. Patrick Buss added a goal, Steve Reddy had an assist and Connor Tewksbury was 11 of 21 on faceoffs for Hopkinton.

Eli Standefer made 15 saves and Cam Bassett also played well.

Hopkinton faces No. 3 Plymouth in the semifinals Wednesday at Laconia.

No. 1 Campbell 17, No. 9 Gilford 4

The Cougars (16-0) picked up the program's first playoff win by beating the Eagles (6-10) in the quarterfinals.

Brendan Boschi had two goals and four assists and John Newell had four goals and two assists for Campbell while Tiernan Sullivan scored six goals.

Andrew Willnus had two goals and two assists and Jack Noury added a goal and an assist. Lucas Craig was 19 for 19 on faceoffs and had 10 groundballs and Ryan Guerrette made four saves.

Campbell will take on No. 4 Laconia in the semifinals Wednesday at Laconia.
