Around the Granite State: Boys Lacrosse Playoff Roundup

The Concord High School boys lacrosse team advanced Thursday in the Division I playoffs, getting a 6-5 win over Souhegan.

The No. 8 Crimson Tide (9-9) got three goals from Joey Tarbell and two goals from Nate Doherty. Colin Nelson also had a goal while Daniel O'Brien recorded an assist.

Colby Bettens played well in goal while Max Leahy, Kevin Jones, Marshall Reedenauer and Andrew Fredrickson played well on defense. Zan Alberici won 10 faceoffs and Flynn O'Sullivan played well.

Concord moves on to the quarterfinals, where it will face No. 1 Exeter on Saturday.

No. 9 Souhegan ends its year at 7-11 and will move down to Division II next season.

Division II

No. 5 St. Thomas 11, No. 12 Manchester Memorial-Central 1

Finn Connor had six goals, five of which came in the third quarter to help the Saints take control of their preliminary-round game against the Kings.

Jackson Estes added two goals while Lincoln Stone, Marcus Broom and Anthony DiMartino had a goal apiece for St. Thomas, which will play at No. 4 Timberlane in the quarterfinals on Saturday. Eli Allaire had three saves for St. Thomas.

Joey Velez had the lone goal for Memorial-Central (7-12).

No. 6 Winnacunnet 12, No. 11 Goffstown 1

Caleb White scored four goals to lead the Warriors (12-4) to a first-round win over the Grizzlies.

Antonia Franciosa added three goals and an assist and Ryan Ciolfi had two scores. Jacob Magri, Levon McCannon and Tanyon Ziolkowski (one assist) recorded a goal apiece and Kyle Tilley had three assists.

Winnacunnet moves on to play No. 3 Windham on the road in the quarterfinals on Saturday.

No. 8 Oyster River-Newmarket 8, No. 9 Hanover 4

The Bobcats (10-7) got four goals and two assists from Sam Guilmette to beat the Bears in the preliminary round.

Marc Parson had two goals and Gabe Goodwin and Evan Plourde had a goal apiece. Finn Mason made 12 saves for ORN, who will now face No. 1 Portsmouth in the quarterfinals on Saturday.

Brendan Logan had three goals and an assist for Hanover (7-8) while Mitchell Rowley added a goal and Sam McDonnell had an assist. Henry Cotter made 10 saves.
