Around the Granite State: Londonderry field hockey gets win over Nashua South
Here are results from Monday's high school sports action.
Sadie Moore and Morgan Ayotte each had a goal Monday to help the Londonderry High School field hockey team to a 2-0 win over Nashua South at Stellos Stadium.
Gemma Murray and Annika Lewis each had an assist for the Lancers (5-4-1, No. 8 in the New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center/NHHSSports Coaches Poll) and Molly Tharrington recorded four saves.
Lilly Hurd made 14 saves for the Panthers (3-8) and kept Londonderry scoreless in the second half. Emme Christian, Isabelle Picanco, Aubrey Rose, Destiny Robinson and Molly Mullaney also played well for South.
No. 7 Bedford 5, No. 6 Merrimack 1
The Tomahawks had their seven-game win streak snapped on the road by the Bulldogs.
Allie Wyand had the lone goal for Merrimack (7-3).
Hollis Brookline 4, Manchester 1
Natalie Brooks scored twice to help the Cavaliers get the win over the Kings.
Anna McGurk and Lilly Hamilton added a goal apiece for HB (4-5-1).
Portsmouth 2, Salem 1
Lia Bokuniewicz scored for the Blue Devils, but it wasn't enough in a loss to the Clippers.
Bradley Thompson added an assist on the goal and Avery Condon had a defensive save for Salem.
Girls Volleyball
Oyster River 3, Hollis Brookline 0
The Cavaliers were swept at home by the undefeated Bobcats. Game scores were 25-13, 25-18 and 25-19.
Vivienne Turcotte had six kill and Sam Burke added five kills while Dami Holman and Alana Adams played outstanding defense for HB (6-2).
Mascenic 3, Portsmouth Christian 2
The Eagles dropped their first match of the season to the Vikings. Game scores were 25-22, 27-25, 23-25, 24-26 and 15-3.
Caroline Braman had 12 kills, three aces and two blocks for PCA (8-1) while Dylan Anderson had eight kills and three blocks and Molly Marquis added five kills, six aces and 13 digs.
Bea Monahan had five kills and 16 assists and Lexi Jordan had 19 assists and three aces.
