Around the Granite State: Wednesday's Roundup
The Hollis Brookline High School girls volleyball team picked up a 3-0 win Wednesday night over Concord in a rematch of last year's Division I championship match. Scores were 25-22, 25-15 and 25-14.
Maddie Norris had six aces, five kills and eight digs for the Cavaliers (9-0), while Elizabeth Atkinson had seven kills and Natalie Cook recorded three blocks.
Kyra Belden recorded 20 assists and Sammie Sheppard had 10 digs.
Bishop Guertin 3, Manchester Central 0
The Cardinals got back in the win column with a sweep of The Little Green. Scores were 25-6, 25-9 and 25-22.
Elizabeth Knapp led the way for the Cardinals (8-2) with seven aces and three kills. Paola Matos had six digs and four aces and Neena Vassil had five aces and three kills.
Nashua South 3, Alvirne 1
The Panthers picked up a win over the Broncos behind a strong night from Paige Garland, who had seven kills and served well.
Kara Kelliher had 10 kills and Catherine Covert and Brianna Henderson added five kills each.
John Stark 3, ConVal 0
The Generals swept the Cougars by scores of 25-10, 25-8 and 25-19 in Division II action.
ConVal got four blocks and two kills from Riley Codman and Molly Cole had two blocks and a kill. Joanna Adams recorded five assists while Mary Grossi had 12 digs and Michele Hartwell added three digs.
Winnisquam 3, Epping 0
The Blue Devils fell at home to the Bears by scores of 25-21, 25-10 and 25-7 in a Division III match.
Gabi Hughes recorded two aces, three kills, 15 digs, a block and an assist for Epping, while Anna Re had four kills, two blocks and three digs. Addy Bickford added seven digs, one kill and one ace.
Campbell 3, Portsmouth Christian 0
The Eagles were swept at home by the Cougars on Tuesday. Scores were 25-17, 25-21 and 25-18.
Alicia O'Neil led PCA (4-3) with seven digs, five assists and four aces while Kendra Leavitt had seven digs and five kills. Becca Jones added three kills.
Boys Soccer
Souhegan 2, John Stark 1
The Sabers scored twice early in the second half and held off the Generals for the win in Division II action on Tuesday.
Cameron Watson scored in the 48th minute and had an assist on the game-winner by Jacob Hopfenspirger in the 52nd minute to give Souhegan (7-2) the win. Montague Jones also had an assist on Watson's goal.
Jacob Couture got the lone tally for John Stark (6-3), scoring off an assist from Jake Reynolds in the 78th minute.
Matt Greany made 10 saves for the Sabers while Chase Patterson had 11 saves for the Generals.
