# Around the Granite State: Tuesday's roundup

NASHUA - Michael Ference scored with 1:22 left in overtime Tuesday night to lift the Salem High School boys lacrosse team to an 11-10 win over Nashua North at Stellos Stadium.

The game-winning goal broke the fifth tie of the game and completed a come back for the Blue Devils that saw them fall behind by five goals in the first half.

North (0-1) got out to a 6-1 lead midway through the second quarter, but Salem (1-0) scored five times in the final 3:30 of the first half to knot it at 6 at the break. The Blue Devils took the lead for the first time early in the third and the teams went back and forth the rest of the way.

Layne Parenti led Salem with four goals and two assists while Ference (assist) and Nick Gore had two goals each. Ben Genest (two assists), Kyle Svenson and Alex Weston had a goal apiece. Sebastian Farah made eight saves.

Todd Redman led the Titans with goals and two assists while Brendan Martin added three goals and an assist. Joey Paige chipped in with two goals and an assist and Troy Bottari had a goal. James Petz made eight saves.

Redman scored with 3:47 left in regulation to put North up 10-9, but with an unnecessary roughness call on Max Fay gave Salem an advantage and the Blue Devils tied it on a goal by Gore with 2:07 remaining.

In overtime, two penalties against Salem gave the Titans a two-man advantage, but a shot by Martin hit the post and Farah made a save on another. Another North penalty gave the Blue Devils an advantage, leading to Ference's game-winner.

**St. Thomas 14, Spaulding 1**

The Saints opened their season with a big win over the Red Raiders in Division II action.

Jojo Grella led the way with five goals and four assists while Patrick Vetter added three goals and three helpers and Jake Proulx and Aidan Crisp (assist) had two goals each.

Andrew Geppert and Sean Kelley also scored for St. Thomas while Tim Bouchard had an assist and won 12 of 13 faceoffs.

**Keene 11, John Stark 7**

The Blackbirds rallied from an early deficit to defeat the Generals in the Division II opener for both teams.

Keene got a big game from Marcin Maleski, who had four goals and four assists, while Manning Kirker had three goals and an assist. Zach Jankowksi chipped in with two goals and an assist and Luke Plumley also scored.

John Stark got out to a 3-0 lead in the first quarter, but Keene came back to tie it before halftime and took the lead in the third. The Blackbirds were able to maintain possession for much of the fourth, as Spencer Hokanson won 12 of 17 faceoffs.

The Generals got five goals and an assist from Parker McQuarrie while Drew McQuarrie (two assists) and Matt Bennetter had a goal apiece.
