Around the Granite State: Friday's Roundup

Connor Robert threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more as the Bedford High School football team opened the season Friday night with a 48-6 win over Manchester Memorial.

Robert was 8 of 13 passing for 154 yards and was the team's leading rusher with 90 yards on 13 carries. Two of the touchdown passes went to Lucein Mumpini, who had three catches for 82 yards.

Cole Clennon also had a touchdown reception to go with two catches for 16 yards, while Noah Chaberek had three receptions for 56 yards and return to kickoffs for 59 yards. Thomas Norfleet carried nine times for 62 yards and Ryan Toscano had a rushing touchdown.

Bedford scored 21 points in the second quarter to take a 28-0 lead into halftime.

Girls Volleyball

Campbell 3, Epping 0

The Blue Devils fell at home to the Cougars by scores of 25-16, 25-22 and 25-22.

Anna Re led Epping with five aces, eight kills and 14 digs, while Marissa Adams added three kills and 13 digs. Gabi Hughes played well defensively with 21 digs and chipped in three kills.

Portsmouth Christian 3, Hillsboro-Deering 0

The Eagles opened with a win over the Hillcats by scores of 25-18, 25-11 and 25-10.

Kendra Leavitt had four kills and six aces for PCA, while Cayleigh MacLeod had 11 assist and three aces and Madison Jordan added three kills and four aces.

Rebecca Jones also had 11 aces, two kills and two digs, while Juhi Gupta also had two digs.

Boys Soccer

Souhegan 2, ConVal 1

Cam Watson scored two first-half goals and the Sabers made them hold up in a win over the Cougars.

Watson opened the scoring in the 12th minute, off an assist by Jacob Alger, and then made it 2-0 Souhegan (2-1) 10 minutes later, with Monty Jones getting the assist. ConVal (1-2) answered in the 34th minute, when Ethan Phillips converted a pass from Aidan Hall.

Matt Greaney made 11 saves for the Sabers, while Mather Kipka had seven for ConVal.
