The Nashua Chiefs played their way into the Senior Babe Ruth Southern League tournament championship game with two wins on Thursday. Now Nashua will get one more crack at the Salem Cardinals in a winner-take-all game at 5:30 p.m. on Friday at Holman Stadium.

The Hollis/Brookline Dodgers scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning to defeat the Souhegan Pirates 7-5 in the loser's bracket of the Senior Babe Ruth Southern League Championship on Monday.

The Souhegan Pirates stayed alive in the Senior Babe Ruth Southern Division tournament, beating Walpole 11-1 in five innings on Sunday. The game was shortened due to the mercy rule. James Astbury got the win for the Pirates, pitching a complete game while striking out seven and allowing three hits.

Bishop Guertin high school lacrosse players Matt Bayne Ward and Adam Hall helped lead the Cardinals to their third Division I championship this spring. Both players were recognized for their individual seasons, as Bayne Ward was named the DI Offensive Player of the Year and Hall earned the division'

Eight local high school girls lacrosse players were named first-team all-state for the 2010 season. Souhegan, Nashua South, Bishop Guertin, Merrimack and Hollis/Brookline each had six girls receive all-state honors.

SALEM – There were plenty of hits and runs at the Salem High School baseball field on Tuesday. The same can’t be said of daylight.
