Despite some teams jumping up in the rankings, the Portsmouth High School boys basketball team is once again the top team in the state rankings for the second week in a row.

And why wouldn't the Clippers be after winning two more games by a combined 56 points? Portsmouth extended its lead in the rankings over a new No. 2 - Pinkerton, which remains as the lone one-loss team in Division I.

Winnisquam, the last unbeaten team in Division III, moves up to third this week, while Milford bounced back into the top five to take the No. 4 spot. Littleton, which picked up three wins last week, moved up 10 spots to round out the top five.

Here are the complete state rankings, plus rankings for each division. Rankings will be updated each Monday throughout the regular season.

### How the rankings are done

We took the NHIAA’s football rating system, and gave it a little tweak. Instead of 10 points for a win, we weighted the wins by division, giving 12 for a win over a D1 team, 10 for a win over D2, eight for a win over D3, and six for a win over D4\. Plus, every team got two points for a win by a beaten opponent. The two point totals were added together and divided by the number of games played.
