Robby McCormick scored the winning run in the top of the seventh inning and pitched the final three innings in relief to help the Souhegan Pirates to a 4-3 win over Walpole in Senior Babe Ruth action on Friday.
Tyler Hansis started the game and went four innings, allowing one earned run on five hits while striking out two. McCormick allowed one run on three hits in three innings, striking out one.
Souhegan went up 1-0 in the first, when Chris Almeida walked, advanced to second on a hit-and-run and stole third before coming home on an error.
Walpole tied the game in its half of the first, but the Pirates went back up in the third, when Hansis scored on a single by Almeida. Nick Hession made it 3-1 Pirates in the fourth with a RBI triple that scored DJ Petropulos.
Walpole came back again, getting one in the fourth and one in the sixth to tie the game.
In the seventh, McCormick reached on an error, stole second and went to third on a wild pitch. A walk to Matt Caputo put runners on first and third, and McCormick eventually scored when Caputo got caught in a run down.
