The Souhegan Pirates stayed alive in the Senior Babe Ruth Southern Division tournament, beating Walpole 11-1 in five innings on Sunday. The game was shortened due to the mercy rule.
James Astbury got the win for the Pirates, pitching a complete game while striking out seven and allowing three hits.
Matt Schagrin was a home run short of the cycle, going 3-for-3 with two runs and three RBIs. Chris Almeida (two runs, two steals), Paul Becotte (two runs) and Nick Hession (run, RBI) and Bobby Graham (RBI) each had two hits and Zack Polio drove in three runs.
Souhegan will host the Hollis/Brookline Dodgers, who lost to the Nashua Chiefs 1-0 on Sunday, at 5:30 p.m. at Souhegan High School on Monday.
In the winners’ bracket, the Chiefs and Salem Cardinals, who beat the Nashua Marauders 14-4 Sunday, will play Monday at 5:30 p.m. at Nashua High School South.
