The Hollis/Brookline Dodgers scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning to defeat the Souhegan Pirates 7-5 in the loser’s bracket of the Senior Babe Ruth Southern League Championship on Monday.
Paul Becotte pitched six-plus innings for Souhegan, striking out three and allowing four hits and six walks. Matt Schagrin came on in relief in the seventh with a runner on first, and allowed four unearned runs.
The Pirates took a 1-0 lead in the third when Chris Chininis walked and scored from first on a throwing error. Souhegan added another run in the fourth, when Nick Hession walked, stole second and scored on a wild pitch.
The Dodgers came back and tied the game at 2 before Schagrin homered to give the Pirates a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth.
H/B led 7-3 going into the bottom of the seventh. Bobby Graham had a RBI triple to score James Astbury, making it 7-4, and Chininis hit a sacrifice fly to score Graham, but that was all Souhegan would get.
