Goffstown Post 16 stayed alive in the American Legion baseball state tournament with an 11-1 win over Rochester Post 7 Monday night at Holman Stadium. Post 16’s win leaves three teams left alive in the final day of the tournament Tuesday.
Riley Palmer struck out 11 in eight innings for Goffstown, which scored two runs in the second and four in the third to take an early 6-0 lead. Brad York had three hits and three RBIs, while Jake Glauser and Rob Hunt each drove in two runs.
Goffstown will now face Londonderry Post 27 in an elimination game at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Holman Stadium. The teams played once during the season, with Goffstown winning 7-4 in 10 innings on June 24.
The winner will then face Rochester at 7 p.m. for the state title. Goffstown and Rochester have already played twice in the tournament, with each winning a game. Rochester beat Londonderry 15-5 in the first game of the tournament for both teams.
The tournament winner moves on to the Northeast Region 1 tournament, which begins Aug. 5 at Middletown, Conn.
The American Legion World Series will be held in Spokane, Wash., starting Aug. 13.
